The Quality Engineer (engineering materials / industrial manufacturing) will manage quality operations within the assigned Value Stream, ensuring products and processes meet established standards and driving quality improvement initiatives. They will gather and analyze data to support root cause analysis, implement corrective actions, and achieve plant quality objectives in alignment with the Corporate Strategy.

Description

The Quality Engineer (Industrial Materials Manufacturing) Will:

  • Design and implement quality assurance methods, systems, and inspection plans to ensure product precision, reliability, and compliance.
  • Conduct statistical analyses and cost-of-quality assessments to identify and address non-conformance issues.
  • Develop and maintain quality systems, documentation, and inspection procedures in alignment with project and regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate with product development teams to provide quality input and ensure alignment with specifications.
  • Coordinate with customers and suppliers to identify quality trends, implement corrective actions, and improve supplier performance.
  • Lead in-house and supplier audits, ensuring compliance with quality standards and driving continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Analyze and report quality performance data, recommending process or material changes as necessary.
  • Facilitate training sessions on quality systems, including PPAP, APQP, and document control, for value stream teams.
  • Participate in failure analyses, root cause investigations, and corrective action planning.
  • Represent the company during customer interactions and external audits, serving as the primary contact when required.
  • Apply lean manufacturing principles to enhance products and production processes, driving continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Maintain industry knowledge through professional development, networking, and certification in quality standards.
  • Be onsite at our Burlington, MA location four days per week (one day per week at home)


Profile

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (BS) with 2-4+ years of related experience.
  • Knowledge of inspection, quality assurance, and engineering techniques, including tools, instruments, and procedures.
  • Experience in maintaining and improving quality systems (e.g., AS9100, ISO9001, IATF16949).
  • Proficiency with business applications and specialized data analysis tools.
  • Ability to implement continuous improvement techniques and assess manufacturing functions.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, including data collection, analysis, and conclusion-drawing.
  • Effective communication and presentation skills across teams and management levels.
  • Experience with Six Sigma and Lean tools is highly desired.
  • Goal-setting and project management skills, including the ability to meet objectives.
  • Capability to participate in team-based goal setting and performance feedback activities.
  • American Society for Quality (ASQ) certification is preferred.
