Job Summary:
The Detroit Tigers are seeking a qualified individual to serve as a full-time Rehab Strength and Conditioning Coach. The main responsibility of this position involves implementing the Tigers Strength and Conditioning Program Principles in the management of athletes in the Rehab/Return to Play Program. The position will be primarily based in Lakeland, Florida at the Tigers Player Development Complex during the competitive season as well as Spring Training and the Off-Season. As such, relocation to the Lakeland area will be required.

The Detroit Tigers are seeking a qualified individual to serve as a full-time Rehab Strength and Conditioning Coach. The main responsibility of this position involves implementing the Tigers Strength and Conditioning Program Principles in the management of athletes in the Rehab/Return to Play Program. The position will be primarily based in Lakeland, Florida at the Tigers Player Development Complex during the competitive season as well as Spring Training and the Off-Season. As such, relocation to the Lakeland area will be required.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with Minor League Medical Staff (particularly Minor League Physical Therapists), Minor League S&C Leadership, Performance Science Staff, Performance Nutrition Staff, and On-Field Skill Coaches to design, refine, and implement day-to-day Return to Play programs for injured/rehabbing athletes
- Manage daily Strength and Conditioning programming for Return to Play group, including Dynamic Warmup, Conditioning, and Strength Training sessions
- Assist wherever possible with Strength and Conditioning Operations and initiatives at Tigers Player Development Complex in Lakeland, FL
- Collaborate with the entire Sport Performance Team to foster an integrated approach to player development by assessing and improving player mobility, stability, strength, power output and conditioning levels.
- Collaborate with Performance Science Department to develop/refine processes for the utilization of technologies to monitor and analyze performance and workload metrics to inform training strategies and objectify Return to Play criteria.
- Articulate S&C health and performance strategies across the various disciplines of Player Development.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Bachelor's Degree in Exercise Science, Kinesiology, or related field
- CSCS Certified and RCSS Credential through NSCA
- CPR/AED and First Aid Certified
- Minimum of Two years of full-time experience field of Strength and Conditioning, preferably in Professional Baseball
- Basic knowledge and application of skills related to performance nutrition
- Ability to relocate to Lakeland, FL upon assigned report date, and work full-time hours as dictated by the daily/weekly schedule
- Excellent organizational and interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Masters Degree in Exercise Science, Kinesiology, or related field
- 5 Years of experience with college or professional baseball players
- Experience working with Sport Science Technology including Catapult, ForceDecks, Gymaware, etc.
- Bilingual (Spanish)
