The
Public Relations Marketing Internship
with Generac is a great opportunity to build your skillset and explore your marketing career interests. This internship is a 10 to 14 week program that starts in April and ends in June.
During your internship, you'll work on impactful projects that make a difference at Generac and with Generac's customers and communities. In this role, you will gain hands-on public relations experience, helping to enhance our brand visibility and engagement. Ideal candidates are detail-oriented students pursuing degrees in Marketing, Communications, or Public Relations, with strong communication, writing, analytical, and organizational skills. This internship offers valuable industry experience, mentorship, and opportunities to develop skills in brand communication, strategy, and event promotion. This role will report directly to the Director of Communications and Public Relations.
Major Responsibilities: Draft and proof press releases, media pitches, and promotional materials. Monitor media coverage and compile reports on public sentiment. Conduct market research and analyze industry trends. Support event planning and promotional activities. Support company spokespeople in increasing awareness of Generac's products and services. Assist in creating and deploying PR plans to support Generac's business segments and overarching brand. Maintain effective working relationships with local and national media reporters and editors. Manage trade show media relations, awards submission opportunities, product launch events, groundbreakings, ribbon-cuttings and other external-facing events and activities. Support the activities of Generac's public relations agency partners and freelancers. Collaborate with internal teams and business segments (i.e. internal communications, social media, investor relations, finance) to brainstorm creative ideas and ensure alignment of messaging and goals. Assist with pitching, scheduling, and sending assets to media. Minimum Requirements:
Currently enrolled at accredited college or university during the internship Must be pursuing a degree in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, or a related field Preferred Qualifications:
Previous Public Relations or Communications internship experience preferred Knowledge / Skills / Abilities:
Must have strong writing and communication skills, both written and verbal Must be AP Style proficient Must be able to work collaboratively with others, while also working independently in a fast-paced environment Must be detail-oriented and organized Must be professional, self-motivated, the ability to multi-task
Physical Demands : While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear; and use hands to manipulate objects or controls. The employee is regularly required to stand and walk. On occasion the incumbent may be required to stoop, bend or reach above the shoulders. The employee must occasionally lift up to 25 - 50 pounds. Specific conditions of this job are typical of frequent and continuous computer-based work requiring periods of sitting, close vision and ability to adjust focus. Occasional travel.
