The Parent Support Partner provides peer-to-peer parent support to those families whose children receive services with the goal of increasing family involvement, voice, and engagement within the behavioral health treatment process and to equip parents with the skills necessary to address the challenges of raising a youth with serious emotional disturbance and/or intellectual and development disabilities. Support provided to a family by a PSP will focus on increasing confidence as they find their voice when partnering with service providers, and will empower the parent to develop sustainable, natural support networks after formal service delivery has ended.
Compensation Range:
The starting pay for this position is $15.73 - 18.50 hourly rate for uncertified candidates, and $17.00 - $20.00 hourly rate for certified candidates, and is based on non-discriminatory factors such as skills and experience.

Provide peer delivered support to parents/primary caregivers of children and youth with serious emotional disturbance (SED) and/or Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDD) including autism, in the public mental health system. Serve as an equal member of the treatment team to identify goals within the Family Centered Plan that will support the parent to find their voice and confidence in partnering with a child with SED and/or IDD, including autism. Enhance the therapeutic process by increasing engagement expanding and increasing skills, knowledge, and abilities so they can better partner with service providers. Support parents to identify services that are meaningful and beneficial for their family. Supports parents to build confidence to use their voice as they navigate child serving systems. Work individually with families whose children are receiving CMH services to provide additional supports and skill building to partner with service providers. Build and nurture relationships with the family and others working with the family. Support parent/ primary caregiver participation in all family driven-youth guided practices including development of a plan of service, treatment, choosing and guiding services and supports and assisting in development of goals related to Parent Support Partner services. Team with others providing services and supports. Encourage the family to ask questions so they can make informed decisions on what is best for their child and family. Provide support and encouragement for parents/family members to speak for themselves. Empower parents to prepare for meetings regarding their child. Provide hope through strategic sharing of lived experience. Utilizes a Trauma-Informed approach to deliver services. Responsible for maintaining active and engaged case assignments. Provide transportation assistance to individuals served as needed. Ensure that all assigned individuals have active authorizations, documentation, and are adhering to their treatment plan recommendations. Completes all required documentation, including progress notes, contact notes, and National Outcome Measures (NOMs), completely, accurately, and in accordance with CNS policy. Meet direct service productivity and documentation standards per agency and program expectations. Fulfills mandatory education requirements of CNS including internal training and community education. Maintain compliance with quality care initiatives including Meaningful Use (MU), Medicare Merit Based Incentive Payment System (MIPS), Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF), and Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic (CCBHC) requirements. Ensure that the CNS Healthcare standards of service are applied to interactions with individuals served, guests, and staff. Assume responsibility for professional growth by current reading and attendance at educational programs and conferences. Maintain knowledge and compliance with established policies and procedures, corporate compliance program, code of ethics, applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations, HIPAA standards, and other regulatory programs. Perform other related duties as assigned. Qualifications: Required High school diploma or equivalent Valid Michigan Driver’s license and good driving record. Transportation or automobile accessibility with current auto insurance. A parent or primary caregiver with first-hand experience navigating public child serving agencies and raising a child with serious emotional disturbance (SED) and/or intellectual developmental disabilities (I/DD), including autism. Must either currently possess or obtain and then maintain Parent Support Partner Certification within 1.5 years of employment. General knowledge of the public mental health system, special education system, juvenile justice system, child welfare, and/or other community resources. Able to relate to, socially interact, communicate with and engage others. Able to partner with families, youth, professionals, other community members, in order to plan and implement services. Ability to integrate strategically share their personal story and lived experience when it is helpful to the family. Supports family strengths in problem-solving and solution seeking. Proficient with computers and working knowledge of Microsoft office products. Ability to work as a member of a multidisciplinary team, and community effectively, professional, and courteously. Ability to work closely with persons with mental or physical limitations. Ability to contribute to an inclusive environment that recognizes the value and contributions of all persons regardless of race, ethnicity, national origin, gender, religion, age, marital status, sexual orientation, gender identity, or disability. Ability to report and record information regarding individual dreams and desires verbally and in writing. Ability to use discretion and judgmental when handling matters of a sensitive or confidential nature. Preferred Currently certified as a Parent Support Partner. Training or other education in human services and/or behavioral health. Prior experience working as a Parent Support Partner. Experience with electronic health record (EHR) systems.
