About the role: The Global Head of Talent and Growth will be responsible for designing and executing the company’s talent and leadership development strategy to build a high-performing, agile, and future-ready workforce. This leader will develop frameworks and programs that nurture high-potential talent and strengthen leadership capabilities across all levels of the organization. This role is critical to supporting the culture of Gilead, providing foundational experiences in leadership growth for all employees through innovative learning tools and technology, such as the Gilead Leadership Academy, and precision talent experiences for high growth talent and those in critical roles. As a strategic partner, the Global Head of Talent and Leadership Growth will ensure alignment between talent strategies and business goals, focusing on creating a sustainable leadership pipeline, fostering a culture of continuous growth, and driving organizational outcomes. This role leads a team of talent, leadership and learning advisors and reports to the VP, Talent, Development and Inclusion and is located in Foster City. Responsibilities: Strategic Talent Management:
Lead the identification, development, and retention of high-growth talent, ensuring a robust succession planning process and leadership pipeline for critical roles. Drive innovation in talent practices and approaches in service of aligning the talent we have with the talent we need for the future. Ensure annual programs and processes support realization of talent and performance outcomes and are easy to use. Leadership Growth: Drive the design and delivery of world-class leadership development experiences, tailored for different leadership levels (e.g., emerging leaders, senior leaders, and executives). Provide coaching, mentoring, and guidance to senior leaders to support their growth and effectiveness as leaders in a global and fast-changing environment. Learning Culture: Oversee the creation of growth journeys and innovative tools and methods that encourage continuous learning and development across all employees. Drive the design and rollout of global learning programs that foster skills development, leadership readiness, and a growth mindset across teams. Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion: Integrate Inclusion and Diversity principles into all talent and leadership growth initiatives, ensuring a diverse leadership pipeline and inclusive talent practices. Expertise: 15+ years of experience in talent development, leadership development, or a related field, with significant experience in global or regional roles. Proven track record of designing and implementing talent and leadership growth strategies at scale in a global, matrixed organization. Experience in executive coaching, leadership development, and succession planning with demonstrated success in building leadership capabilities. Strong expertise in vertical/adult development, leadership development methodologies, talent management frameworks, and employee engagement strategies. Excellent coaching and mentoring skills with the ability to influence and inspire leaders across all levels. A deep understanding of how to drive cultural and behavioral change in organizations through talent and leadership strategies. Ability to balance strategic thinking with operational execution, delivering high-impact results. Exceptional communication, facilitation, and presentation skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders globally. Leadership Capabilities: Highly collaborative. Demonstrated ability to build relationships and influence across a matrixed, global organization, responding quickly to change and adapting/operating in ambiguous environments. Leverages sense-making. Takes a systems view to challenges and opportunities and uses data and insights to inform thinking and tackle complex challenges. Leads with an enterprise mindset.
