Kleinfelder is seeking a Senior Project Manager for Environmental Planning & Permitting in Los Angeles, CA. The role involves managing CEQA/NEPA projects, leading studies and reports, ensuring compliance, mentoring junior staff, and engaging with stakeholders. Candidates should have over 10 years of experience in environmental permitting, strong project management skills, and proficiency in regulatory requirements. A BS/BA in Environmental Science is required, with a graduate degree preferred. The position offers a hybrid or remote work schedule.
Job Responsibilities:
Champion CEQA/NEPA proposals and business development/expansion of services with our existing and new clients. Lead/direct and manage the preparation of: California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) studies and reports (e.g., Environmental Impact Reports [EIRs], Mitigated Negative and Negative Declarations [MND/ND]); National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) studies and reports (e.g., Environmental Impact Statements [EISs], Environmental Assessments [EAs]). Ensure deliverables conform to Kleinfelder and client standards and expectations and comply with all applicable permits, licenses, and right-of-way or easement conditions. Direct and mentor junior staff in supporting CEQA/NEPA analysis and document preparation. Conduct and oversee staff in desktop environmental due diligence reviews to determine agency regulatory authority, potential land involvement, and/or license requirements. Provide Senior Independent Technical Review of documents. Provide expert advice and lead/contribute to public meetings, hearings, and stakeholder engagement and outreach on projects. General Project Management duties, including managing multiple projects simultaneously, coordinating reports and deliverables, and tracking projects for on-time and within-budget delivery. Promote diversity and inclusion and high health and safety standards. Coordinate with multidisciplinary technical leads internally or externally (e.g., subconsultants) providing oversight, quality control/assurance, and regulatory compliance. Position Requirements:
10+ years of corresponding experience in managing environmental permitting projects in accordance with CEQA and NEPA. Fully proficient in CEQA, NEPA, and other local, state, and federal regulatory requirements. Experience with agency consultations and project permitting. Project Management skills including organized and detail-oriented. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Knowledge of special-status wildlife and/or plant species is a plus. Listed or able to be listed on City and County approved CEQA consultant lists. Education:
