Director of Continuing Education
POSITION DETAILS
The Director of Continuing Education is a new role in Workforce Development and Continuing Education (WDCE) at Bronx Community College. The Director will be a member of the leadership team of WDCE and will report to the WDCE Dean.
WDCE’s mission is to equip the greater BCC community with technical and professional skills to launch family-sustaining careers in support of the overall economic development of the Bronx. We achieve this by offering low- and no-cost training and certifications for community members and BCC students in high-demand sectors such as education, healthcare, green jobs, and IT. In addition, our Office of Career Development provides students with job-readiness and career-building services, as well as connections to internships and jobs. We are a front door for employers to BCC, who come to us as their go-to source for high-quality talent. Within BCC, WDCE manages student recruitment and enrollment, grant writing and reporting, budgeting, instructor hiring, room reservations, and data collection/analysis for the unit. To support WDCE’s vision for growth in the coming years, this Director will be pivotal in managing the fiscal operations of the division, developing robust systems and processes for these functions, creating SOPs and training staff, and ensuring we are able to plan in a sound yet ambitious way.
WDCE’s staff and programs are funded through a combination of tax dollars, private grants, and revenue from tuition and contracts. Each funding stream is managed through a unique process and office on campus and centrally at CUNY, with distinct fiscal years, guidelines for spending, and reporting requirements. To support WDCE’s vision for growth, WDCE seeks a budget and operations expert who is as comfortable delving into budgeting and reporting as they are developing strategic analyses and project plans to inform the unit’s growth.
Under the direction of the Dean, the Director will lead:
Overseeing and driving strategic planning for budgeting, financial forecasting, and modeling, ensuring alignment with WDCE's goals and priorities.
Leading the development of data collection frameworks and presenting insights on recruitment, retention, and employment outcomes to inform both operational decisions and long-term strategy.
Managing the evaluation and implementation of technology solutions to streamline processes, improve efficiency, and support data-driven decision-making.
Designing, implementing, and ensuring adherence to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for key programs, ensuring consistency, scalability, and compliance.
Leading the planning and execution of the TAP for Workforce rollout, ensuring seamless integration into WDCE operations.
Cultivating and maintaining strategic relationships with key campus departments (Finance, Financial Aid, Registrar, Grants, HR) and CUNY Central to ensure smooth operations and resource alignment.
This role presents an exciting opportunity for an individual who thrives in driving operational excellence, solving complex challenges, and building scalable systems from the ground up. The Director will play a critical role in ensuring that WDCE can deliver on its mission effectively and sustainably in the Bronx.
