Job Summary:
PRN only at Tennova in Cleveland, TN. The Practitioner will practice within the EMG NICU under the supervision of Medical Director and any others as defined by the Collaborative agreement the NP has with the collaborating physician.
This position is involved in a team-based approach to care. Team members are trained to meet the highest level of function for their role as per the State of Tennessee/Georgia guidelines. Is trained and assigned (as per their role and responsibilities) to coordinate care for patients and is trained and assigned to support patients/families/caregivers in self-management, self-efficacy and behavior change. Is trained and assigned (as per their role and responsibilities) to manage the practices' patient population. Participates in the practice's quality improvement process and performance evaluation.

Successful completion of an accredited APN Program Acute Care

Minimum of two (2) years Nursing clinical experience

The Nurse Licensure Compact will not change how to obtain or renew a Tennessee license. However, the Tennessee nursing license will be a single state license for Tennessee Residents or non-compact state residents. Tennessee licensure or multistate licensure from a compact state must be obtained within three months of hire for non-Tennessee residents.

Department Position Summary:
The Practitioner will practice within the field of medicine under then supervision of Medical Director. The Practitioner will work in collaboration with the Physicians and Staff of the EMG NICU in providing healthcare services to patients in the inpatient and outpatient setting. Range of services is set forth in a written protocol developed jointly and signed by the Practitioner and the supervising physician. General activities will be in the evaluation and treatment of patients for neurological conditions. Practitioner will be involved in all aspects of the practice including but not limited to: patient 90-day follow up visits post discharge, inpatient consultation and follow up, and assistance with call coverage for 24/7/365, In-House neurology services. Practitioner must have the ability to tailor specific initiatives for Neurology patients. Must interact with employees and learn their specific needs to help with the safety and health of the patients served. Must uphold high ethical standards and practice within the scope of practice set forth in the written protocol. Complete records in a timely manner.
The Nurse Practitioner supports the delivery of evidence based acute stroke assessment and management, provides staff education such as Neurology Anatomy and Physiology, Gold Standard for stroke; Get With The Guidelines and Joint Commission Requirements, Neurology assessment, stroke mimics, stroke syndromes, pre-hospital care, stroke management in the Emergency Department, diagnostic tests, stroke protocol and the care of the stroke patient, stroke rehabilitation; criteria for transition of care, home health and community based care, and the role of the caregiver. The Nurse Practitioner must be available for consultation regarding the care of the patient experiencing an acute stroke. The Nurse Practitioner will serve on the following committees:
* Service Line Committee * Process Improvement Committee * M & M Committee
The Nurse Practitioner will participate in research for improving outcomes for the stroke patient, assist in community outreach for stroke education, assist in education of the patient and caregiver for the stroke patient.
