Position Overview On behalf of the Bureau of Identification, for the Division of Justice Services, under direction, provides complex specialized transaction responses based on criminal history record information impacting the Illinois Sex Offender Registry (SOR) and National Instant Check System (NICS) programs, Investigates data related to the National Instant Criminal Background Check System, utilizes outside agencies to retrieve court disposition information, provide statistical reports. Essential Functions Provides complex, specialized transaction response based upon thorough examination of Illinois Compiled Statutes, federal regulations and related legal requirements. Investigates data thoroughly by initiating written queries in order to analyze criminal history data related to National Instant Criminal Background Check System (NICS) requests. Utilize individual circuit clerk county line hook-ups, Chicago Police Department data system, Cook County disposition line, CHRI, Law Enforcement Agencies Data System (LEADS) the Internet, emails, faxes and telephones to retrieve arrest and court disposition information. Monitor, maintain and manipulate data to provide statistical reports and correspondence. Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties Minimum Qualifications Knowledge, skill and mental development equivalent to the completion of high school and two (2) years of office experience. Ability to keyboard accurately at 45 wpm. Instructions for calculating net words: When selecting a passage to est of approximately 3 minutes to ensure you are comfrotable with the keyboard and operations. When you are ready, type the passage and end the test at 5 minutes. The first thing to calculate is gross wpm. This is calculated by dividing the number of all keystrokes (which includes spaces, numbers, letters, and punctuation) by 5. Take this number and divide by the total time (again, 5 for 5 minutes). This is known as "gross wpm." Review what you wrote and count the number of errors. Divide the number of errors by the total time it took to type (5). Subtract this number from the gross wpm to get the net number. Preferred Qualifications Prefers one (1) year experience with using Less Than Full Access (LTFA) certification. Prefers one (1) year experience working with the state Criminal History Record Information (CHRI) programs. Prefers one (1) year experience with Microsoft Office software applications. Prefers one (1) year experience reviewing firearms and sex offender registration state and federal statutes.
