General Building Contractor based in Gurnee & Chicago, IL seeks Project Manager in Construction for Commercial Building Projects.

Project Supervision is the art of directing and coordinating human and material resources throughout the life of a project by using modern management techniques to achieve predetermined objectives of scope, cost, time, quality, and participation satisfaction.

A Wm. A. Randolph, Inc. Superintendent is responsible for the following:

Experience running projects $1,000,000 and greater is REQUIRED. Please indicate whether you would be willing to be a "Traveling Superintendent" or only able to work in the Chicago Area. Travel is a necessity.

  • Represent both Wm. A. Randolph, Inc. with class and dignity. This includes keeping a clean job site trailer, dressing appropriately, using appropriate , keeping any suggestive material off the job site, etc.
  • Follow all local, state, and federal laws.
  • Supervise direct construction labor including Assistant Superintendent and Field crews.
  • Enforce and follow policies of Wm. A. Randolph, Inc. including safety, compliance, harassment, SWPPP, etc.
  • Ensure construction follows the standards of material and workmanship in order to insure the performance of the facility according to the design. We expect our final product to reflect craftsmanship of the highest quality.
  • Manage jobsite manpower, materials, equipment, project scheduling, subcontractor and job cost decisions with the assistance of the Assistant Superintendent and Project Manager.
  • Understand and work diligently towards a successful compliance with the Project Schedule. This includes revising the project schedule with the Project Manager / Project Engineer if necessary.
  • Understand and work diligently to deliver exceptional quality of work.
  • Act and direct all labor as if you were an OSHA Compliance Officer. All job sites must be safe.
  • Participate & coordinate all job specific meetings including subcontractor pre-construction meetings, subcontractor safety meetings, subcontractor weekly coordination meetings, etc.
  • Perform all required job site inspections and forecasts.
  • Process all job level documentation in Expedition as exemplified in the Superintendent’s Reference Manual.
  • Manage field office files and drawings in an organized and accessible fashion.
  • Maintain a clean set of “history” drawings on-site. This includes updating your history set anytime a revised drawing is issued. Drawing Matrix (from PM) must be posted inside the site trailer.
  • Maintain a clean set of “as built” drawings on-site.
  • Schedule and coordinate all required state and local inspections for Certificate of Occupancy and project close out.
  • Assist Project Manager / Project Engineer with project close out documents.
  • Work and assist Subcontractors to help both WARI and Subcontractors achieve completion.
  • Work with subcontractors to avoid back charges and field change orders. If back charges become necessary – it is the Superintendent’s responsibility to promptly notify all affected parties via fax and/or e-mail following the WARI Back Charge process.
  • Verify time and material tickets for all subcontractor change order requests – to be done via WARI stamp. No subcontractor tickets are to be personally signed without prior Project Manager approval.
  • Communicate with Owners during phone calls and job site visits. Answer questions they may have in a respectful and diplomatic manner.
