Sr Purchasing Agent

Overview
The Senior Purchasing Agent is responsible for the coordination and execution of NextDirect major equipment purchases and the overall purchasing process for NextDirectSM .
Responsibilities
- Develop purchasing policies/procedures specific to NextDirectSM
- Work closely with other Gilbane purchasing staff to drive collaboration, alignment, coordination, and continuous improvement
- Develop positive relationships with contractors manufacturers, distributors, manufacturers’ representatives, vendors/suppliers and maintain throughout the current and future projects
- Review and align scopes of work
- Read and understand drawings and specifications
- Incorporate prime contract flow downs into supplier agreements and purchase orders
- Manage and utilize the NextDirectSM Bidders List
- Execute RFQ/RFP processes including: assembling bid/contract documents, send bid invites, field bid RFIs, perform bid evaluation, and provide recommendation to award
- Understand purchase order and contract terms and conditions, both internal and external
- Work with Gilbane Legal Group to get agreement on final Terms and Conditions
- Prepare and process contracts, purchase orders, consultant agreements
- Work with Gilbane Risk Management Group to ensure compliance with vendor prequalification, insurance and risk contract requirements
- May assist with expediting data and equipment, and ensuring shipping details are in order, tracking critical shipments

Qualifications
EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION
- Bachelor’s degree
- 7 years relevant experience
- Or equivalent combination of education and experience
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
- Negotiation/conflict resolution skills
- Proficient in public speaking and ability to lead large meetings with confidence
- Basic understanding of construction law, contract and risk management
- Basic understanding of insurance
- Strong computer skills with proficiency in Word, Excel, Outlook
- Ability to read construction drawings and understand specifications
- A basic understanding of mechanical and electrical equipment
- Ability to prepare and interpret specifications, analyze bids, and prepare and maintain procurement records and reports
Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.
For Providence, RI and Boston, MA this ranges from $120,000.00 - $140,000.00 plus benefits and retirement program.
