Job Description
PURPOSE OF POSITION
To ensure that Dental Department patients receive appropriate care in an organized and timely manner.
AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITIES
SUMMARY OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Greet and welcome patients to the clinic
Assist and direct patients to designated area
Preform clerical duties assigned by the Director of Service/Assistant Director
Register patients in Epic
Schedule appointments in person /via phone in Epic
Call patients to cancel, reschedule and confirm appointments
Update patient demographics
Verifying patient's HMO's/Medicaid
Call for verification of HMO's membership
All related cashiering duties
Answer phone appropriately
Translate as needed
Provide clerical coverage and rotate evenings and Saturday clinic
Data entry
Minimum Qualifications
1. A four-year High School diploma or its educational equivalent, including or supplemented by successful completion of an accredited or approved Dental Assistant Program, which included or was supplemented by 600 hours of supervised internship experience assisting a dentist at chairside; or
2. A four-year High School diploma or its educational equivalent, including or supplemented by successful completion of an accredited or approved Dental Assistant Program, which included or was supplemented by 300 hours of supervised internship experience assisting a dentist at chairside; and 6 (six) months of satisfactory full-time experience as a Dental Assistant performing all of the following duties: taking and uploading dental digital imaging, assisting dentist at chairside, and preparing dental instruments for sterilization; or
3. A four-year High School diploma or its educational equivalent; and one (1) year of satisfactory full-time experience as a Dental Assistant performing the duties described in "2" above; or
4. A satisfactory combination of education and experience which is equivalent to "1", "2", or "3" above. Each 100 hours of supervised internship experience assisting a dentist at chairside is equivalent to two (2) months of full-time experience. However, all candidates must have at least a four-year High School diploma or its educational equivalent.
Experience as a receptionist or clerk in a dentist's office is not acceptable towards meeting the qualification requirements.
