Position Overview

Delta Utilities is seeking a receptionist to be the first point of contact for Delta Utilities, providing a professional and welcoming environment for visitors, clients, and employees. This position is responsible for managing front desk operations, handling incoming communications, and supporting administrative tasks to ensure the office runs efficiently. This is a full-time position based in New Orleans, Louisiana.

Key Responsibilities

  • Greet and assist visitors with a warm and professional demeanor
  • Maintain the appearance of the reception and common areas, monitor and maintain office supplies
  • Answer, screen, and route incoming calls and emails to the appropriate departments
  • Handle incoming and outgoing mail and courier deliveries
  • Schedule and coordinate meetings or appointments as directed
  • Perform general administrative tasks such as filing, photocopying, and data entry
  • Work closely with Executive Assistant to ensure smooth operations
  • Performs other job duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; additional certification in office administration is a plus
  • Previous receptionist, front desk, and/or retail experience preferred
  • Experience with scheduling is a plus
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and familiarity with phone systems
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
  • Professional appearance and demeanor
  • Friendly, approachable with a positive, customer-oriented attitude
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and demonstrate discretion
  • Reliable, punctual, and attentive to detail

Delta Utilities is a natural gas utility with a focus on providing a safe, dependable service to customers. Headquartered in New Orleans, Louisiana, the utility will serve nearly 600,000 customers and become one of the leading natural gas providers in Louisiana and Mississippi, as well as one of the top 40 providers in the United States.

In 2023, Entergy announced that it had entered into an agreement with Delta Utilities to sell its Louisiana gas distribution business. The natural gas utility currently serves more than 200,000 customers across East Baton Rouge and Orleans parishes. In February 2024, Delta Utilities entered into an agreement with CenterPoint Energy to acquire its Louisiana and Mississippi natural gas businesses, which currently serve approximately 381,000 customers. Once the transactions are complete, Entergy's Louisiana natural gas operations and CenterPoint Energy's Louisiana and Mississippi natural gas systems will be operated by Delta Utilities.
