Position Overview:
Five Chophouse & Bar, an upscale steakhouse renowned for its exceptional dining experience and extensive wine selection, is seeking a passionate and dynamic Maître d'/Sommelier. This role is perfect for a hospitality professional with a love for fine dining, a talent for wine curation, and an eye for impeccable detail. The ideal candidate is a natural leader who thrives in creating memorable guest experiences while driving team performance and beverage program success.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Hospitality & Service Excellence:
    • Greet guests with warmth and professionalism, ensuring every dining experience reflects the refined and welcoming atmosphere of Five Chophouse & Bar.
    • Serve as the face of the restaurant, cultivating relationships with regular guests and fostering new ones.
  • Wine & Beverage Program:
    • Oversee the wine program, including menu curation, inventory management, and staff training.
    • Provide wine pairings and recommendations to enhance guest experiences.
    • Collaborate with the culinary team to ensure seamless pairing with the steakhouse menu.
  • Leadership & Team Development:
    • Assist in mentoring and training staff to deliver exceptional service and knowledge of wines and beverages.
    • Be learning facilitator, embraced the “protégé effect”
    • Foster a collaborative, team-oriented work environment.
  • Operational Excellence:
    • Ensure smooth operations during shifts, including managing reservations and table assignments.
    • Take responsibility for closing the restaurant, ensuring all end-of-night tasks are completed to standard.
    • Monitor and maintain beverage costs to achieve financial goals.
  • Attention to Detail:
    • Ensure the restaurant ambiance, cleanliness, and presentation exceed guest expectations.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 3 years as a lead or seasoned professional server in fine dining or luxury hospitality, with additional experience as a Maître d', Sommelier, or similar role preferred.
  • Certification in wine studies (WSET, Court of Master Sommeliers, or equivalent) is preferred or willingness to pursue further education.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Proven ability to drive sales and manage costs effectively.
  • A passion for hospitality, teamwork, and curating unforgettable guest experiences.
