Inventory Control Clerk

General Functions:

The principal responsibilities are but not limited to perform inventory control clerk duties in compliance with Safety Quality Food institute (SQF) and Food Safety Procedures; follow all safety rules and company policies assists warehouse manager in receiving materials, organizing inventory, picking/pulling, and kitting parts and distributing work order materials, and help maintain accurate inventory system per as assigned tasks maintain continuous communication with all the plant departments; in the absence of the warehouse manager, the inventory clerk must finish the daily assignments.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsible for:

  • Receive and count stock items, and record data using the company operating system. Verify that the amounts match with the packing slip.
  • Pack and unpack items to be stocked on shelves in stockrooms, warehouses, or storage yards.
  • Verify inventory computations by comparing them to physical counts of stock, investigate discrepancies, and/or adjust errors.
  • Mark stock items using identification tags, stamps, electric marking tools, or other labeling equipment.
  • Clean and maintain supplies, tools, equipment, and storage areas to ensure compliance with safety regulations.
  • Keep records on the use and/or damage of inventory goods or material handling/transportation equipment. Keep records of the donation and spoiled products.
  • Enter all material receipts into the inventory management database and allocate items to correct orders.
  • Perform cycle counts and physical inventory audits on a daily/weekly/monthly basis.
  • Maintain an organized and updated filing.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

In the absence of the warehouse manager the Inventory clerk is responsible of completing the daily assignments.

  • Production Department:
  • Maintenance Department.
  • Shipping and Receiving Warehouse.

Education and Experience

  • SQF, Silliker, or AIB course.
  • Knowledge of the HACCP program.
  • Knowledge of OSHA, military, health department, EPA, city, and county regulations preferred.
  • Bilingual preferred (Spanish and English).
  • Computer skills to navigate company operating system.
  • Good communication skills.
  • On-the-job training after hire.

Prior inventory control clerk or related stockroom experience.

  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret shipping manifests and identification labels.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  • Knowledge of basic math skills.
  • Ability to do some computation on the spot/mentally.
  • Forklift certification (available on site).
  • Judgment and decision-making abilities.
  • Monitoring abilities to assess performance to make improvements and take corrective action.
  • Basic production and processing knowledge of raw materials, production process, and quality control.
  • Interpersonal skills and customer service awareness.
  • Organizational skills.
  • Excellent Communication Skills.
  • Specialized Industrial Equipment: Forklift, aerial lift.
  • Magnolia foods policies, harassment, and IIPP/Safety Manual.
  • Training on safety, job descriptions, work instructions, sanitation forms, food safety program, quality, and sustainability.

QUALIFICATIONS

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS / REQUERIMIENTOS FISICOS

  • Work requires medium to high amounts of physical exertion.
  • Workstation located in the air-conditioned manufacturing plant area.
  • Occasional exposure to elements such as odor, noise, dust, heat, cold or chemicals.
  • Frequent carrying, lifting, and transporting products and parts throughout stockroom shelves and production plant.
  • Requires frequent sitting at a computer, walking and moving between manufacturing areas.
  • Job requires constant manual dexterity and physical manipulation.
  • Frequently drive and safely operate forklift, pallets, carts, and other material transportation equipment
  • Frequent full range of motion to retrieve items on top of shelves, grouch down to retrieve items on lower shelves and/or from the ground and unpack/pack parts.
  • Constantly use vision to unpack, receive parts and products in stockroom, and complete inventory counting.
  • Lift up to 70 lbs. occasionally depending on product, 5-50 lbs. frequently, and insignificant amounts constantly.
  • Able to work weekends and overtime if needed.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Moving mechanical parts.
  • The employee is seldom exposed to outside weather conditions and vibration.
  • The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions.
  • Extreme cold and heat; temperature Controlled Food Distribution Warehouse with temperature zones from -5 degrees F to ambient temperature. Exterior and Interior work is required.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
