Job Description
The Dock Lead is responsible for performing an array of duties such as receiving, processing incoming shipments, picking, and filling orders from stock, and organizing and retrieving stock in the warehouse. This position also supports in the training of warehouse associates and assisting in making sure that role stays on task.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Lead Tasks:
Collaborate with warehouse management team to improve processes.
Train and mentor new hire, provide input on performance.
Support warehouse associates to stay on task with daily assignments.
Label and sort products from distribution transloads.
Utilize large commercial vehicle tractors to perform trailer movements around the yard in a safe manner.
Serve as primary backup for a warehouse supervisor duties during assigned hours.
Operational Processes:
Prepare customer orders for shipment.
Perform labeling, sorting, wrapping, packing, and repacking for shipments.
Load and unload product from trucks or containers including drum/barrel containers.
Conduct load reworks including reworks that are potentially soiled or dirty in nature.
Conduct inventory counts.
Utilize various MHE (stand up forklift, pallet Jack, deep reach) to store product in appropriate temperature environment, expertly stacking and storing the product.
Pick orders for shipment and assemble various types of merchandise to be shipped.
Breakdown, separate, and receive incoming shipments.
Follow standards for sanitation and safety as it relates to the Safe Quality Foods requirement.
Follow daily practices in adherence with transportation-related policies, as well as safety rules, and government regulations.
Attend safety stand down huddle and every occurrence of a safety incident.
Provide operational support on holidays, as scheduled.
Participate with the team when all hands are needed.
Perform other duties, as assigned.
Qualifications
Education: HS Diploma or equivalent
Experience: Minimum 1-year previous warehouse position. Experience with powered industrial trucks, such as a forklift or pallet truck. Ability to control moving equipment at all times. Ability to utilize commercial vehicle tractor to perform trailer movements.
Communication: Must be able to read, write and speak English fluently. Proven ability to communicate effectively and positively with customers, vendors, and employees.
Computer: Basic computer skills
Other Qualifications: Demonstrated attendance reliability. Strong number recognition and correlation
Ability to work overtime, as needed.
Working conditions
The Dock Lead will be working in a cold storage warehouse environment that can at times reach -10 degrees temperature for long periods of time.
Physical requirements
Must be able to lift and move 50 lbs., push, pull, squat, bend and reach with or without reasonable accommodation.
Ability to stand 100% of working shift if required by job responsibilities.
