Job Description
Custom Concrete is looking for hard working, dedicated people to join our team as a Heavy Equipment Operator. Heavy Equipment Operators are responsible for tasks incidental to the management of dirt, gravel and other miscellaneous material. The position may operate a variety of hand and power tools and may clean and prepare sites, dig trenches, clean up rubble and debris, and remove waste materials.
Essential Functions
Experience operating various equipment such as: dozer, excavator, and skid steer
Ability to hold grade and establish elevation
Understand the layout of a jobsite and perform minor layout tasks
Able to interpret and read prints
Communicates work progress with supervisor throughout the duration of the project.
Skilled in dirt management and have a basic understanding of general construction knowledge
Ability to operate a smartphone and tablet
Work in any type of weather to include; extreme heat and cold, rain, and snow
Climb in and out of basement excavations anywhere from 6-10 feet deep using a dirt ramp or dirt stairs
Work Environment
While performing the duties of this job, the employee will work in extreme weather conditions (extreme heat and cold, rain, snow, and mud). The employee will frequently work near moving mechanical parts, and will frequently be exposed to wet or humid conditions. The employee will occasionally work in high, precarious places and will occasionally be exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and risks of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
Physical Demands
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Equipment operators may be required to lift heavy objects, walk, sit and/or stand for long periods of time and perform strenuous physical labor under adverse field conditions. The employee lifts, pushes, pulls or carries objects; uses abdominal and lower back muscles to provide support over time without fatigue; and effectively jumps, sprints or throws objects. The position requires good manual dexterity (hand, hand with arm, two hands) and multi-limb coordination. The position requires the ability to quickly move arms and legs. The employee may occasionally lift or move up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position. Most operators work 10–12-hour days for 5 days every week.
Weekly average 50-60 hours/week. With the opportunity for more.
Eligibility Qualifications
US Work Authorization
CDL operator's license (A or B)
