Lead Art Handler/Installer

Compensation: $25.00 - $33.00 / hour
Description
To assist with all aspects of removals, collections, deliveries and installations of personal effects, art and antiques under the management of immediate supervisor. Coordinate and take charge of the installations whilst managing crews on site.
Key Responsibilities
- Collections and deliveries on a daily basis, locally and interstate as needed
- Coordinate installation projects leading a team / crew
- Proper handling of art objects, fragile and artistic material, antique and fine furniture
- Preparation of condition checks and condition reports as needed
- Pack artworks, antiquities and fine furniture for transportation and storage
- Ensure a high degree of detail and focus on every job
- Training lower grade drivers and art handlers when required
- Handle and control all paperwork on site, including condition reporting for goods
- Ensure vehicle used is always safe, clean and prepared for the day or trip
- Verify what goods are needed at the start of every day or trip based on the daily trip sheet or trip manifest
- Report and verify all modifications to daily trip manifest with dispatch
- Complete a manual time sheet for any location changes and have it signed by a supervisor or manager within 24 hours.
Supervisory Responsibilities
- Ensure crews are wearing their uniform at all times
- Adhere to authorized break times
- Report crew members not fulfilling their job role to Dispatch
- Train new employees as required
- Ensure trucks are kept clean and safe, reporting any damages to Dispatch Manager
- Check trucks every morning to ensure all material needed for the day is loaded
- Efficiently manage crews, including time management of a job
- Ensure crews complete time sheets
- Report to work promptly and collect instructions for the day
- Be a proactive leader using your own initiative when required
General
- Ensure compliance with all HR policies and procedures
- Adhere to all Health & Safety policies and procedures
- Act in the best interests of Lawrence Fine Art Services and Cadogan Tate, its customers and employees
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
- High school diploma / GED required
- At least 4 years of experience in the art handling industry and in packing and driving
- Four years of logistical, warehousing and moving experience
- Excellent understanding of inventory processes and handling art and antiques
- Ability to lead an installation and manage a crew
- Ability to manage installations and train lower grades
- Ability to work as part of a team and independently
- Strong leadership and problem-solving skills
- Familiarity with OSHA regulations
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Impeccable communication and multitasking skills
- Ability to accurately execute detailed paperwork and condition reporting
- Team player, able to work with all levels of staff
- Comfortable in a results-driven workplace
- Experience with logistics equipment
- Ability to safely lift 70 pounds and maneuver heavy objects
- Ability to perform physical tasks such as standing, walking, squatting, etc.
