Senior Embedded Systems Engineer - Defense & Aerospace

Washington DC Metro Area (Hybrid/Remote Possible) | TS/SCI Clearance Required

Position Impact

You'll be part of a new team developing custom hardware and embedded solutions for critical national security applications. Your work will directly impact end users across the US Government and allied forces, solving real-world challenges that can't be addressed with existing commercial solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Architect and develop high-performance software solutions meeting stringent security requirements
  • Process high-bandwidth sensor and network data streams for real-time analytics
  • Develop bare-metal/RTOS embedded software for ARM/RISC-V targets
  • Program and control System on Chips (SoCs) and FPGAs
  • Collaborate with hardware engineers on board bringup and testing
  • Debug hardware-software interfaces and system integration
  • Design solutions optimized for Size, Weight, Power, and Cost (SWaP-C) constraints

Required Qualifications

  • Active US Security Clearance (TS/SCI preferred)
  • 2+ years of software development experience
  • Strong proficiency in C/C++ or Rust
  • Experience with hardware interfaces (I2C, SPI, PCI, AXI)
  • Understanding of IP networking fundamentals
  • Self-starter mentality with ability to work independently

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Real-Time Operating Systems (RTOS)
  • Linux kernel and driver development
  • FPGA programming and integration
  • Defense/aerospace industry experience
  • Embedded systems architecture design

Compensation & Benefits

  • Base Salary: $100,000 - $250,000
