Apple is looking for a highly motivated senior hardware development engineer to join Display Technologies Organization to work on technology development of new display and optical module architectures for future Apple products. The engineer will be working in a highly technical, multi-disciplinary, fast-paced team from Apple’s Module Technology Center (MTC).

Description

Define technical work scope, drive technical directions, and make systematic development plans to establish fundamental engineering learnings and meet product interception schedules. Initiate new module technologies to enable challenging design architectures in display and optics. Hands-on design, build, test, and refine hardware prototypes and systems in MTC’s labs to enable critical technology proof-of-concept and convergence. Collaboratively work with cross-functional teams to plan and align the development strategy, and demonstrate technical results/issues to executives.

Minimum Qualifications

  1. B.S. degree in Optical, EE, or Mechanical Engineering or Related Discipline minimum required plus 10 years relevant industry experience.
  2. Experience in driving technology development projects in R&D environment or similar early-phase stages.
  3. Experience in designing, building and optimizing optical and opto-mechanical systems and prototypes.
  4. Experience in process development, characterization, and data analysis to enable, improve and realize new design architectures.

Key Qualifications

  1. Advanced Degree, M.S. or Ph.D., in Optical, EE, or Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
  2. Good technical communication to drive cross-functional planning & alignment, demonstrate development results or communicate technical issues to executive management.
  3. Hands-on experience in Opto-mechanical system, Metrology, Optical science and leveraging optical simulation tools (i.e. Zemax).
  4. Solid understanding in data processing, statistical tools and data visualization using Matlab, Python, or similar tools.
  5. Experience in optical component and module manufacturing process and techniques.
  6. Additional knowledge in mechanical design (i.e. 3D CAD) or control systems & software development (i.e. Labview, Python, etc.) is a plus.
  7. Strong planning, organization and documentation skills.
  8. Passion for innovation and motivated to constantly learn new areas and skills to expand.

At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $175,800 and $312,200, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location. Apple employees also have the opportunity to become an Apple shareholder through participation in Apple’s discretionary employee stock programs. Apple employees are eligible for discretionary restricted stock unit awards and can purchase Apple stock at a discount if voluntarily participating in Apple’s Employee Stock Purchase Plan.
