Amazon Web Services (AWS) Hardware Engineering is a leading-edge product development team that creates enterprise compute and storage server designs for our innovative web service and e-commerce technology platforms. We are seeking experienced Thermal/Mechanical Engineers to build the next generation of our cloud platforms. Our success depends on our truly innovative server infrastructure; we’re handling massive scale and rapid integration of emergent technologies.


What you will do: As a member of the Hardware Engineering Mechanical/Thermal/Robotics (MTR) Engineering team, you’ll be responsible for the design of our server platforms. You’ll provide leadership in the application of new cooling and mechanical technologies to large-scale server deployments in a continuous effort to deliver a world-class customer experience. This is a fast-paced, challenging position, and you’ll work with thought leaders in multiple technology areas. You’ll have relentlessly high standards for yourself and everyone you work with, and you’ll be constantly looking for ways to improve your products' performance, quality, and cost. You’ll need to understand when a change in technology enables a completely different way of approaching server design. We’re changing an industry, and we want team members who are ready for this challenge and want to reach beyond what is possible today.


Key job responsibilities:

  1. Perform mechanical and thermal design and development for complex electronic systems.
  2. Design and validate systems and subsystems to meet program objectives.
  3. Participate in the cross-discipline design process working with other HW and SW team members to develop optimized integrated solutions.
  4. Conduct failure analysis and solution validation for product development and fleet systems.
  5. Manage interaction with overseas resources.
  6. Provide mentorship and technical reviews to a team of mechanical/thermal design engineers.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • 7+ years experience in server technologies such as thermal, mechanical, power, and signal integrity.
  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, computer engineering, or equivalent.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience working with interdisciplinary teams to execute product design from concept to production.
  • Experience with the project management of technical projects.
  • Master's degree in mechanical engineering, thermal engineering, or equivalent.
