Job Description
Summary
This role will support both our Frankfort and Winchester, Kentucky locations. The ideal candidate will live in between both locations as they will need to travel to both plants on a regular basis. The Senior Human Resources Generalist is responsible for performing the complete scope of HR related duties in the following functional areas: benefits administration, employee relations, training, performance management, onboarding, policy implementation, recruitment/employment and employment law compliance.
This position has dotted line responsibility to the Plant Manager.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Business Partner:
- Administers human resource plans and procedures for all facility personnel.
- Participates with the HR Director and Plant Management in developing department goals, objectives, and systems for the facility.
- Reviews retention with Plant Manager and HR Director and develops plans to increase retention as needed.
- Participates in administrative staff meetings and attends other meetings as designated.
- Be a valued business partner through proactive and reactive relationship building by understanding the needs of the business, business leaders, and employees.
- Diagnostic and consultative creation of programs and procedures focused on reducing cost and improving quality by systemizing.
- Strategic and intentional communication for areas of responsibility to improve understanding, participation, and knowledge of employees and leaders.
- Focused on approaching areas of responsibility with a "big picture" mindset but willing to roll-up sleeves for investigation and implementation of projects or ideas.
- Assist in development of HR Business Plan objective and budget items as assigned.
- Implements employee rewards and recognition program
Training/Performance Management:
- Works with the Training and Development Manager to prepare an annual training plan for the facility.
- Facilitates training as necessary or sources outside training resources as necessary.
- Supports training for new employees.
- Facilitation of a performance appraisal and development counseling processes
Employee Relations:
- Handles employee relations as needed.
- Communicate with HR Director regarding terminations or resignations. Gets counseling and guidance on terminations.
- Conducts exit interviews.
Benefits/FMLA:
- Communicates benefit information to employees during onboarding and support benefit enrollments.
- Communicate directly with Director of Benefits and Compensation regarding employee issues regarding benefits.
- Is a member of the Wellness Committee and facilitates wellness activities in the facility
- Manages FMLA cases.
- Manages short term and long-term disability cases.
HRIS/Payroll
- Adds new employees to HRIS system.
- Maintains employee records.
- Terminates employees from HR and other systems at end of employment.
- Maintains human resource information system and keeps employee files up to date and accurate.
- Process employee change requests, including payroll change of status and forwards this information to the Director of Benefits and Compensation.
- Develops a time and attendance process for the facility, trains Supervisors on the process and monitors the process weekly in ensure that payroll information is timely to payroll departments.
Policies/Compliance:
- Communicates, explains and manages company policies and procedures.
- Maintains compliance with federal and state regulations concerning employment.
Staffing:
- Follows employment requisition process.
- Works closely with HR Director to develop staffing strategies and leads the hiring process for manufacturing roles at the facility.
- Partners with Talent Acquisition Director on staffing strategies for professional level roles
- Posts open positions internally and externally, reviews resume's, schedules interviews and completes reference checks for manufacturing roles
- Assists with job fairs, career fairs and college recruiting as requested.
- Presents offers of employment and schedules necessary background, physical testing and drug testing.
- Creates announcements for new hires.
- Conducts new employee orientation and onboarding
Recommended Qualifications
- BA in HR or related field
- At least 5 years of experience in HR in a manufacturing environment
- Experience working with HR technology
