Virginia ABC is currently seeking applicants to fill our HR Generalist positions. The Human Resources Generalist provides administrative and professional level expertise in all areas of Human Resources. This position resolves minor issues within all functional areas of Human Resources, provides advanced administrative support, builds partnerships, and provides excellent customer service to internal and external customers in compliance with the Authority's mission.
Areas of Responsibility:
Administrative Support
- Provides routine support to all the functions of HR, including but not limited to Employee Relations, Talent Acquisition, Employee Engagement, Compensation, HR Policy, HR Compliance, HR Administration, HRIS, Learning and Development, Safety, and Benefits.
- Ensures accuracy of employee files and electronic records (PANs).
- Responsible for the data review of all system-related onboarding and off-boarding activities.
- Provides administrative to supports of the leave administration and the benefit administration process.
- Assists with the development and delivery of DOI-related content and programming for all authority stakeholders.
- Drives effectiveness of HR programs by tracking key measures of success and providing insights and recommended solutions to improve overall business outcomes.
- Provides basic HR guidance and answers HR related inquires related to policies and all HR functions. Refers complex and/or sensitive matters to the appropriate team members.
- Supports the full-life cycle recruitment and onboarding process.
- Analyzes HR related trends and data to make recommendations to HR leadership
- Collaborates with the HR policy team, reviews, drafts, and creates HR policies and procedures.
- Documents all HR related processes and Identifies areas for process improvement to HR leaders
- Reviews and tracks completion of performance evaluations.
- Under guidance, assists with case summaries and collaborates with management and/or the Senior Employee Relations Specialist to resolve issues including implementing disciplinary actions up to and including terminations.
- Ensures compliance with company policies and procedures and federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations through regular audits.
- Ensures quality of HRIS data by assisting with internal audits to review system data.
- Ensures compliance with the records retention policy and may serve as Records Retention Coordinator for the HR Division.
- Human Resources experience in a fast-paced office environment
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, other related fields, or 4 years of related Human Resources experience.
- 2-3 years of experience in a Human Resources professional level
- Professional Human Resources (PHR) Certification or SHRM-Certified Professional
- College degree with major coursework in Human Resource Management, Business / Public Administration, Organizational Management, or a related field preferred.
