Property Management is hiring: Maintenance Tech/Janitor in Elgin

An Illinois property management firm with properties in Illinois, Pennsylvania, Indiana, Iowa, Wisconsin, Ohio and Minnesota, is seeking to fill a Full-Time Maintenance Tech/Janitor position. The position will be assigned to one of our Senior Apartment communities located in Elgin, IL.

Under the direction of the Property Manager, the Maintenance Tech/Janitor is responsible for:

• Timely completion of routine repairs, maintenance requests, resident and building work orders preventative maintenance tasks while keeping accurate records of all tasks.
• Daily removal of trash and recycling.
• Ensures all make-ready repairs and services are completed correctly and on schedule.
• Assess and repair issues including electrical, plumbing, HVAC, appliances, carpentry, painting and dry wall repairs and building interior/exterior areas.
• Conduct interior and exterior rounds to ensure proper functioning of systems and equipment, structure integrity of buildings, condition of grounds, etc.
• Performs work according to standard procedure and by buildings operational schedule.
• Cleans community rooms, hallways, restrooms, laundry room, stairways, and windows using general cleaning equipment to maintain overall building cleanliness.
• Clears snow from entrances & walkways when applicable.
• Grounds maintenance (cut grass, trim bushes, waters landscaping, removes trash) when applicable.
• Follows all applicable safety rules & procedures.
• Reports work accomplished orally or on written work order to Property Manager daily.
• Provide excellent customer service to residents, guests and staff.
• All other duties as assigned.
• On call duties required.

Schedule:

• Monday to Friday 8:00am - 4:30pm
• On call (24/7 After Hours)

Experience:

• Maintenance: 1 year (Preferred)

License/Certification:

• Driver's License (Preferred)
• Trade school certificate(s) in electrical, plumbing, maintenance (Preferred)

• High school Diploma or GED equivalent required.
• Trade school certificate(s) in electrical, plumbing, maintenance preferred.
• Solid knowledge of general maintenance and repairs. Experience in HVAC, plumbing, refrigeration, electrical, painting, carpentry, dry wall.
• Excellent customer service and effective interpersonal skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills supported with daily communication with Property Manager.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office Programs.
• Ability to research and resolve issues that may arise.
• Ability to restock and order items to complete the tasks of the building.
• Valid Driver License.

Job Type: Full-time Salary: $19.00 - $20.00 per hour
