Key Responsibilities:
oManage day-to-day accounting operations and ensure that there is a redundant process backup in place for every critical operation.
oAct as a lead and collaborate closely with the Account Receivable processing and reconciliation of accounts with the Revenue Accountant.
oInitiate daily operating cash transactions and update daily cash report. Work with the CFO to plan intercompany cash transactions to ensure each entity can meet obligations. Monitor cash flow well in advance to anticipate cash flow needs.
oUpdate the annual cash flow forecast with actuals at month end. Provide analysis of actual vs. forecast results, and follow up with Institutional Advancement staff monthly regarding cash flow changes.
oWork with the CFO and Controller to plan and implement modifications to the chart of accounts to encompass changes in operations or to improve financial reporting capabilities. Problem solve with department managers on complex financial reporting and budgeting issues. Format custom reports as needed.
oPrepare journal entries as required for monthly close. Complete account reconciliations as assigned by the Controller.
oEnsure that all data has been entered and then generate monthly financial statements. Complete a variance analysis of actual vs. budget, present to the CFO and Controller. Follow up with departments on variance issues when necessary.
oMeet accounting financial objectives by forecasting requirements, taking a key role in the annual budget process, scheduling expenditures, analyzing variances, and initiating corrective actions.
oWork with Controller in preparing for the annual financial statement audit and other audits (i.e., Pension Plan, 403(b), & IRS Form 990 filing).
oEnsure that accounting and control procedures are followed for areas of responsibility. Evaluate systems and processes, recommending and implementing improvements.
oProvide backup coverage to all accounting functions including Payroll and Controller as needed.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
oBachelor’s degree in accounting or finance required.
o5+ years’ experience required.
oCertified Public Accountant a plus.
oNon-profit experience highly desired.
oExceptional leadership abilities.
oHigh level of proficiency with Microsoft suite, including Excel, Word, and Outlook.
oExperience with use of accounting and financial reporting software. Financial Edge software a plus.
oAble to work independently, exercise good judgment and critically analyze reports for accuracy.
oSolid knowledge of good accounting control practices; with attention to both big picture and details.
oAble to process a high volume of work while meeting critical deadlines.
