About the Role
We are seeking an experienced accounting professional who enjoys a fast-paced, highenergy, and collaborative team environment. As a direct report to the Controller, the Accounting Manager drives compliant accounting operations for Finance Department.

Job Type: Temp to hire

Schedule: Full-Time: Mon-Fri 8am-5pm

Pay: $32 - 36/hr.

Location: Honolulu

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Manage and review day-to-day, month-end, and annual close cycles
encompassing AR/AP, grant management, account reconciliations.
• Support Controller with annual external audit and tax engagements; prepare,
compile, and review supporting schedules and documentation for audit.
• Compile financial statements and prepare budget vs. actual analyses monthly.
• Monitor operating cash balances, ensuring adequate funds are available for short
term operating needs.
• Provide oversight, coaching, and workflow management for 2 accounting
Teammates.
• Develop and maintain financial policies, procedures, and internal controls.
• Analyze the effectiveness of existing systems and processes to develop and
implement new strategies to increase productivity and alignment with best
practices.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Education/Experience
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance or any combination of education and
nonprofit financial management experience which would provide the knowledge,
skills, and abilities to perform the essential duties of this position.
• Minimum of 5 years’ professional experience required; 2 years in a team
leadership capacity preferred.
• Work experience inclusive of account reconciliation and journal entry preparation
or review, financial statement compilation or review, and financial reporting
required.
• Professional experience within nonprofit sector in an accounting, finance, and/or
audit capacity highly desired.
• Working knowledge of Form 990 desired.
• Certified Public Accountant or Certified Management Accountant license is a
plus.

Essential Skills/Knowledge
• Skilled in Microsoft Office Suite; advanced proficiency in Excel.
• Strong working knowledge of accounting software and financial analysis.
• Excellence in all aspects of accounting, internal controls, financial reporting, tax
compliance, and pertinent rules and regulations.
• Demonstrated success in identifying and implementing process and/or system
improvements that yielded significant efficiency gains.
