Position Purpose
This position provides accounting support to the Controller and Director of Finance and Administration in all areas. This position also serves as back up to HR Manager and Supervises Accounts Payable Clerk and Accounting Assistant(s), also provides support to Grower Accounting.

Accountabilities and Responsibilities
- Perform general accounting duties including, but not limited to general journal entry and month end financial statement reporting and other supporting schedules.
- Work closely with partner company staff to reconcile and record freight margin and shared services monthly.
- Reconcile flexible spending accounts monthly.
- Monthly balance sheet reconciliations.
- Reconcile supply inventory to general ledger monthly.
- Provide monthly details to partner companies for intercompany expenses and shared services.
- Prepare monthly Budget Variance Reports and distribute them to managers.
- Serve as back up to Controller/HR Manager in payroll. Will review and approve each bi-weekly payroll before it is processed.
- Supervises the Accounts Payable Clerk. Coordinates the Accounts Payable Clerk's duties to ensure that tasks are performed timely. Prepares and delivers the Accounts Payable Clerk's annual performance appraisal.
- Supervises the (Supply) Accounting Assistant. Coordinates the (Supply) Accounting Assistant's duties, with Manager of Grower Accounting Services to ensure that tasks are performed timely. Prepares and delivers the (Supply) Accounting Assistant's annual performance appraisal.
- Serve as back up to Accounts Payable Clerk, as well as review and approve each trade payables and precheck batch before posting.
- Serve as back up to (Supply) Accounting Assistant for bank reconciliation and bank deposit as needed.
- Assist Controller in annual budget workpaper preparation for review by Director of Finance and Administration.
- Prepare audit work papers to facilitate the annual audit process.
- Record monthly Berry Blue transactions as well as financial statement preparation.
- Maintain fixed assets.
- Maintain property tax statements and report to managers as needed.
- Prepare annual Personal Property Tax Returns.
- Manage grant projects as needed.
- Manage new capital projects as needed.
- Other assigned tasks and execute special projects as directed by Direct Supervisor.
Quantitative Data/Job Dimensions
- Prepare monthly Budget Variance Reports for 40+ departments.
- Assist in preparing annual budgets for 40+ departments.
- Work closely with 10+ managers to facilitate the annual budget process.
- Reconcile over 75 balance sheet accounts monthly.
Qualifications and Skills Required
- Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance with at least 3-5 years of experience
- With 1-2 years of management experience
- Must be experienced PC user, including e-mail and Internet, as well as MS Word, Access, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
- Business Central accounting software experience preferred, but not required.
- Ability to work in a professional, confident manner.
- Sound prioritization and time management skills.
- Utilize computer systems and files in an organized and efficient manner.
- Ability to supervise and coordinate the activities of others.
- Ability to accept responsibility and make competent decisions independently.
- Ability to problem solve independently. (Most duties that require use of systems are self-taught.)
- Must be detailed oriented for accurate reporting.
- Ability to work with/for a number of different people, and to handle stressful situations and interruptions.
- Ability to commute/relocate to Grand Junction, MI 49056: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (required)
