The Accounting Manager, who reports to the Corporate Controller, will play a key role in the management and functioning of the accounting department. This position will be responsible for driving the monthly close process and completion and review of key account reconciliations in accordance with US GAAP and SOX controls. This position requires an individual that "thinks outside the box" who can apply experience and knowledge to current matters, is an initiative-taker, and is motivated by continuous improvement.

Job Purpose
The Accounting Manager, who reports to the Corporate Controller, will play a key role in the management and functioning of the accounting department. This position will be responsible for driving the monthly close process and completion and review of key account reconciliations in accordance with US GAAP and SOX controls. This position requires an individual that "thinks outside the box" who can apply experience and knowledge to current matters, is an initiative-taker, and is motivated by continuous improvement.
- Take a leadership role in the monthly accounting close to drive the accuracy of consolidated financial statements including proper classification of Balance Sheet, Revenues, COGS, and expenses.
- Review and prepare Balance Sheet reconciliations for assigned general ledger accounts, as necessary.
- Calculate, prepare, review and post monthly journal entries to the accounting system.
- Analyze Business Unit P&L accounts to evaluate trends and investigate unusual account variances, resolving identified discrepancies and highlighting operational opportunities.
- Collaborate with other members of the department to ensure accurate and timely information is provided to external and internal auditors.
- Own local and State tax reporting, researching current issues, identifying process improvements and new State requirements.
- Ensure proper documentation is maintained for key internal controls.
- Practice adherence to US GAAP standards, encompassing financial consistency across organizational reporting.
- Compile ad-hoc financial reports for upper management.
- Assist in the Implementation of new accounting standards or processes.
- Work toward continuous improvement in current processes and seek new methods of analysis.
- Perform other related duties as needed.
- Education: Bachelor's degree in accounting required
- Years of Experience: 5+ years of accounting experience
- Public accounting experience a plus and CPA preferred.
- Multi business unit experience, in particular retail, strongly preferred.
- Strong understanding of GAAP, including ASC842, its application and demonstrated previous experience.
- Experience working with multistate businesses, including the associated tax regimes at local/ State level.
- Experience leading external audit functions.
- Strong organization skills with an ability to multi-task
