The Accounting Manager oversees the financial operations of the organization, ensuring compliance with non-profit accounting standards, and managing medical billing activities critical to our operations.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Accounting and Financial Oversight:
    • Manage day-to-day accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger activities.
    • Work with senior account to perform general ledger posting, bank reconciliation, posting to subsidiary accounts, trial balances, adjustments and closing entries within policy and procedures timeline.
    • Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
    • Ensure compliance with non-profit financial regulations and accounting standards.
    • Assure monthly, quarterly and year-end tax reports and deposits are filed correctly and on time; advise CEO promptly if delayed or late.
  • Budgeting and Forecasting:
    • Assist CFO with the development and monitoring of operational budgets in collaboration with leadership
    • At the direction of the CFO, assist with the development, preparation and monitoring of financial analyses and reports designed to monitor cash-flow and aid in strategic decision-making
  • Medical Billing Management:
    • Oversee all medical billing processes, including claims submission, coding, and compliance with healthcare regulations.
    • Work with MCOs and insurance providers to facilitate prompt payment processing and resolution of billing disputes.
    • Collaborate with program managers to ensure appropriate billing of all services provided
  • Grant and Funding Management:
    • Track grant expenditures and ensure compliance with funding guidelines.
    • Prepare financial and/or other reports for grants and donor accountability.
  • Internal Controls and Auditing:
    • Work with CFO to develop and maintain robust internal controls to safeguard financial assets.
    • Coordinate with external auditors during annual audits.
  • Team Leadership:
    • Supervise and mentor a small team of finance and billing professionals.
    • Foster a collaborative and supportive work environment.
    • Work with team to develop a culture of continuous improvement, improving efficiency and accuracy with internal processes.
    • Ensure all team members have a designated back-up person and personnel are suitably cross-trained

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field
  • 5+ years of accounting experience, with at least 2 years in a managerial role.
  • Strong knowledge of non-profit accounting principles (GAAP for non-profits).
  • Demonstrated experience in medical billing, including coding and insurance claims.
  • Proficiency in accounting software and medical billing systems. Experience with MIP, ADP and Credible a plus.
  • Familiar with Microsoft Excel and Access.
