The Opportunity
InCharge Energy is seeking an organized and detail-oriented Accounting Clerk to join our finance team in Richmond, VA, reporting directly to the Financial Controller. This role offers an excellent opportunity for a motivated professional to make a meaningful impact within a growing organization. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in accounting transactions and processes, with knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles.
As an Accounting Clerk, you will play a critical role in ensuring the accuracy and efficiency of our finance operations. Your responsibilities will include posting recurring journal entries, reconciling bank and balance sheet accounts, resolving discrepancies, and assisting with various administrative tasks. Additionally, you will support the administration of the Purchasing Card and Expense Report program through our third-party provider, RAMP, and manage collections for past-due accounts receivable. We are looking for a proactive, independent professional who thrives in a dynamic and fast-paced environment. Strong Excel skills, problem-solving abilities, and experience with ERP integration are highly valued for this role.

What You'll Do
Accounts Payable and Expense Management
- Process invoices, reconcile credit card transactions, and manage expense reports using our third-party platform, Ramp.
- Reconcile monthly credit card statements and bank accounts with accuracy and efficiency.
Accounts Receivable
- Support collections for past-due accounts, including making calls, addressing customer inquiries, and escalating issues as necessary.
- Maintain detailed records of customer communications and follow-up actions to ensure proper documentation.
Reconciliation and Reporting
- Reconcile balance sheet accounts on a monthly basis, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance financial reporting efficiency.
Vendor and Customer Relations
- Build and maintain strong relationships with vendors and customers by promptly addressing inquiries and resolving discrepancies.
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to improve processes and communication.
Compliance and Administrative Support
- Assist with Certificates of Insurance, credit applications, and vendor/supplier/customer documentation.
- Ensure compliance with company policies and financial regulations.
- Provide general administrative and ad-hoc support to the Finance Department as needed.
Your Experience and Capabilities
- Associate degree in Accounting, Business, or a related field (preferred).
- Prior experience in accounts payable, accounts receivable, or similar accounting roles.
- Proficiency with RAMP and MS Dynamics 365 Business Central is a plus.
- Strong Excel skills, including experience with formulas (XLOOKUP, etc.) and pivot tables.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment while working both independently and collaboratively.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with vendors, customers, and team members.
- High attention to detail and a task-oriented mindset to manage multiple responsibilities efficiently.
- Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple projects and priorities simultaneously
