POSITION SUMMARY: Day-to-day accounting operations including Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable and Sales/Use Tax for BJU Press Business Office.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Performing of accounting functions of the BJU Press Business Office
- Learning and working with new software and system implementations
- Ability to assist with sales/use tax calculations and filing of tax returns for all states
- Staying current with tax laws in order to keep BJU Press compliant
- Maintaining tax email box/responding to customer tax inquiries
- Updating customer tax certificates
- Handling the monthly tax certificate update reminder emails
- Resolving sales/use tax assessments and other tax issues including preparing for and working with auditors
- Acting as liaison between BJU Press and state sales tax departments
- Overseeing and assisting in filing of annual reports with Secretaries of State and filing business licenses
- Assisting with accounts payable functions; entering invoices and selecting for payment
- Assisting with and reviewing costing and balance sheet accounts
- Reconciling monthly bank card statements and processing for payment
- Communicating effectively with internal departments, vendors, and customers
- Assisting with accounts receivable functions; including processing all types of payments on account.
- Assisting with accounts receivable various problems that come up in D365
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Sound knowledge of accounting principles and practices
- Ability to act with propriety and maintain confidentiality of business information
- Ability to manage multiple tasks at the same time
- Ability to build relationships with other BJU Press departments
- Good computer skills, proficiency in accounting software, and ability to learn new software programs
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to communicate effectively with internal departments and external customers/vendors
- Accuracy with numbers and details
- Experience with creating financial statements
- Experience with general ledger functions and with month-end/year-end closing processes
- A bachelor's degree in accounting, finances, or business administration is preferred, but not required
COMPUTER SKILLS:
- Microsoft Office
- Vertex - Sales tax software and Microsoft Dynamics - Business Financial; D365 AR and AP functions
