About the Job:
The Accounting Technician will report to the Site Controller and is responsible for supporting the day-to-day operations of project accounting, provide backup support for the company hourly payroll, and support accounts payable during periods of high volume invoice processing. This position is considered entry level and will provide excellent exposure of day-to-day accounting operations of an active mine. This position is based out of Coeur Alaska administration offices at Vintage Business Park in Juneau, however, occasional travel to and from the Kensington Gold Mine, located 45 miles north of Juneau, Alaska may be required. The regular schedule for this position is 5 days on and 2 days off.
Responsibilities:
- Assist with updating and reconciling Oracle Projects module by direction of the Project Cost Accountant
- Assist with coordinating and completing annual fixed asset inventory
- Gain proficiency of time keeping system SimplyWork and provide backup support for company hourly payroll
- Support accounts payable function by becoming proficient using Oracle Payables module and processing overflow invoices and credit memos for payment; includes matching to purchase orders, contracts and professional services agreements
- Manage credit card program within on-line banking application
- Assist with internal and external audit requests
- Ensure work is completed in a safe and environmentally responsible manner
- Maintain positive working relationship with all levels of personnel, including government agencies
- Adhere to company philosophy and policies
Required Qualifications & Skills:
- Ability to work safe and promote safe behavior in others
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Two (2) plus years of progressively responsible accounting related duties within an office setting
- Excellent technical competencies with attention to detail
- Problem solving—identifies and attempts to solve problems and recognize when to ask for assistance
- Proficient communication skills, verbal and written
- Planning/organizing—the individual prioritizes and plans work activities and uses time efficiently
- Quality control—the individual demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness
- Dependability—consistently at work and on time, follows instructions, responds to management direction and solicits feedback to improve performance
- Safety and security—the individual observes safety and security procedures and uses equipment and materials properly
- Working knowledge and experience using MS Excel and Word
- Preferredexperience:
- Oracle
- ADP
- College level accounting courses and/or accounting certification
- Preference given to Alaska residents
