We are offering an exciting opportunity in LOUISVILLE, Kentucky, for a Director of Accounting. In this role, you will be instrumental in coordinating with various departments for annual budget processes, tracking expenditures, preparing balance sheet reconciliations, and generating reports. You will also have the opportunity to manage a team and contribute to streamlining accounting and finance processes.
Responsibilities:
• Coordinate with the Controller and Program Directors on annual budget processes for numerous departments.
• Utilize your skills with Great Plains accounting system and Management Reporter to track grant expenditures.
• Regularly modify grant budgets to ensure all program expenditures are covered.
• Prepare and review balance sheet reconciliations.
• Generate and distribute internal and external monthly and quarterly reports using Management Reporter.
• Prepare journal entries in Great Plains.
• Assist in shared cost allocation across various programs.
• Continually seek improvements to streamline accounting and finance processes.
• Support the annual external audit process by preparing supporting schedules and gathering documentation.
• Regularly meet with program operations team members to keep them updated on the current financial status of their programs compared to budget and total grant funding.
• Manage a team consisting of a Controller, Senior Accountant, and two Staff Accountants.• Minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar role, ideally in a leadership position.
• Proficient understanding of all Accounting Functions.
• Demonstrated experience with Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR).
• Proven track record in Auditing.
• Strong experience in managing and developing Budget Processes.
• Proficiency in using a popular Accounting software.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Strong leadership abilities and team management skills.
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field, Master's degree preferred.
• CPA certification would be considered an advantage.
• Ability to multi-task and manage various project elements simultaneously.
• High-level attention to detail.
• Strong decision-making skills and the ability to prioritize tasks.
