We are on the hunt for a Legal Secretary to join our team in ALBUQUERQUE, New Mexico. This role is central to our operations, dealing with the transcription of legal documents, managing multiple tasks, overseeing office operations, conducting legal research, and communicating with various stakeholders. This role offers a short term contract employment opportunity.
Responsibilities:
• Efficiently transcribe legal documents and correspondence from dictation using dictation equipment and shorthand skills.
• Draft, revise, and finalize legal documents such as pleadings and motions.
• Ensure the timely completion of multiple tasks while prioritizing effectively.
• Manage the operations of the front office which includes tasks such as appointment scheduling, phone answering, and client greeting.
• Organize and maintain office files, records, and supplies.
• Coordinate various calendars, including attorney schedules, court dates, and client meetings.
• Conduct legal research and collect information to assist in the preparation of cases.
• Prepare and file legal documents with courts and other entities.
• Communicate case updates and requests for information to clients, opposing counsel, and other stakeholders.
• Uphold client confidentiality and ensure compliance with legal procedures.• Proficiency in the use of dictation and dictation equipment
• Excellent transcription skills
• Ability to use shorthand effectively
• Experience in a legal environment as a secretary or similar role
• Strong understanding of legal terminology and principles
• Excellent organizational skills and ability to prioritize tasks effectively
• High level of attention to detail
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion
• Proficiency in using Office Suite including Word, Excel and Outlook
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
• Strong interpersonal skills, able to work effectively in a team and liaise with various stakeholders.
