Summary This position is being recruited under 10 USC 1599f into the Cyber Excepted Service and does NOT convey eligibility to be converted to the Competitive Service. It has been identified as a position necessary to carry out and support the mission of the US Cyber Command. It is in the Professional Work Category at the Full-Performance Work Level within the CES Occupational Structure. It is located in the DISA IE-ACQC/TRANSPORT PEO. Responsibilities Manages Local Area Network (LAN) and Wide Area Network (WAN) with responsibility for defining and executing the total breadth of network operations to ensure availability and accessibility of our LAN/WAN. Serves on applications development teams to ensure network requirements are addressed during the systems development process from translation of functional requirements through systems testing. Applies a comprehensive knowledge and skill in applying network design and architecture principles and concept sufficient to establish connectivity between remote sites; troubleshoot network problems and outages. Leads major network projects such as re-establishing connectivity for relocated employees, accommodating disabled employees and implementing telecommunications support activities. Plans and coordinates systems design, acquisition, testing, installation, and support. Configures front-end processors, hubs, switches, and routers; monitors network performance; analyzes network traffic patterns. Ensures rigorous application of information security/information assurance policies, principles and practices in the delivery of network services. Maintains continual vigilance against threats to network confidentiality, integrity and availability. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications In order to qualify for this position, you must meet the requirements described below. Basic Requirements: Experience must be IT related; the experience may be demonstrated by paid or unpaid experience and/or completion of specific, intensive training (for example, IT certification), as appropriate. Oral Communication - Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately. Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations. OR Undergraduate or Graduate Education: Degree in computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology management or degree that provided a minimum of 24 semester hours in one or more of the fields identified above and required the development or adaptation of applications, systems or networks. Qualifying Experience: To qualify at the GG-12, your resume must describe at least one year of experience that demonstrates the competencies necessary for immediate success in the position. Experience refers to any paid or unpaid experience, including volunteer work and Military service, that would be considered equivalent to work normally performed at the next lower grade level in the federal service. For this position, qualifying experience is defined as: Experience developing and implementing complex configuration management plans for complex Local Area Network (LANs) and Wide Area Networks (WANs). Reviews technical and design and network specifications to address customer requirements. Leading major network projects to include project plans, assigns and prioritizes the work of other network specialists, and oversees the implementation of project activities. All qualifications must be met within 30 days after the closing date of this announcement. Additional Information: This position has been designated as "Mission Essential." Incumbent will be required to report to work or relocate to a new duty location, within the United States, in times of local/national emergency. As part of the Mission Essential designation, the incumbent may be placed in a 24/7 standby or recall status and be require to carry a mobile phone or other similar device to be directly recalled to duty from a recall roster. This is a 3rd shift position with hours of 00:00-08:00. This includes night differential (from 00:00-06:00) and will be required to work weekends and holidays based on shift coordination Education There is no substitution of education for the qualifying experience at the GG-12 grade level Additional Information This position is in the Excepted Service and does NOT convey eligibility to be converted to the Competitive Service. It is being recruited under 10 U.S.C. 1599f into the Cyber Excepted Service (CES) personnel system.
