Summary The recent graduates program targets individuals who have graduated recently from qualifying educational institutions or programs. To be eligible, applicants must apply within 2 years of degree or certificate completion, except for veterans precluded from doing so due to their military service obligations, who will have up to 6 years after degree or certificate completion. Successful applicants will be placed in a dynamic, career development program. Responsibilities As a participant in the Recent Graduates Program, you will receive both formal and on-the-job training to develop the required knowledge and skill to successfully perform the duties of the position. Analyzes technical and/or administrative personnel programs which support mission requirements and determines program effectiveness and efficiency. Collection of intrusion artifacts (e.g., source code, malware, trojans) and use discovered data to enable mitigation of potential cyber defense incidents within the enterprise. Coordinates and provides expert technical support to enterprise-wide cyber defense technicians to resolve cyber defense incidents. Independently tracks and documents cyber defense incidents from initial detection through final resolution. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Who May Be Considered: Individuals who have obtained a qualifying Associates, Bachelor's, Master's, Professional, Doctorate, Vocational or Technical degree or certificate from a qualifying educational institution, within the previous 2 years. OR Veterans (as defined in 5 U.S.C. 2108) who were unable to apply within 2 years of obtaining a qualifying Associates, Bachelor's, Master's, Professional, Doctorate, Vocational or Technical degree or certificate from a qualifying educational institution due to their military service obligation. Veterans have a full 2-year eligibility period to apply upon his/her release or discharge from active duty. The eligibility period for veterans must be within 6 years of degree completion. 2210 Basic Requirement Attention to Detail -experience reviewing my own information technology-related work or data to ensure accuracy, completeness, and consistency with standards. My work or the data that I produce is typically reviewed by my supervisor or another colleague Customer Service - experience having brief contact with customers to provide information about available information technology products and services and providing customers with standard products or routine services to address information technology needs Oral Communication - experience informing my supervisor and other IT staff of the status of information technology systems, projects, or daily operations, including the status of information technology systems, projects, or daily operations, including the communication of basic technical information to a non-technical audience Problem Solving - identifying or selecting from a number of alternatives to address routine information technology-related issues by gathering and applying information from standard sources that provide a limited number of solutions In addition to the requirement above, your resume must also demonstrate the following Qualifying Experience: For the GG-07, your resume must describe at least one year of experience assisting with performing recurring network control and administration functions to include hardware/software refinements that support the overall network design. For the GG-09, your resume must describe at least one year of experience performing security evaluations of information, processing equipment, and software; designing and developing automated information processing systems and management of automation projects. Education SUBSTITUTION OF EDUCATION FOR EXPERIENCE AT THE GG-07 LEVEL: Bachelor's degree with Superior Academic Achievement or 1 academic year of graduate education (or law school, as specified in qualification standards or individual occupational requirements). Superior Academic Achievement: S.A.A. is based on (1) class standing, (2) grade-point average, or (3) honor society membership. SUBSTITUTION OF EDUCATION FOR EXPERIENCE AT THE GG-09 LEVEL: Two full years of progressively higher level graduate education, or Master's or equivalent graduate degree such as LL.B. or J.D., may be substituted to meet the experience requirement. Additional Information PROGRAM COMPLETION AND CONVERSION ELIGIBILITY: Upon successful completion of their academic program and the Internship program, interns may be converted to a term (GG) position in the consistent with agency needs, academic achievement, and demonstrated potential. Conversion potential for this opportunity is a GG-11/12 up to the full performance level of GG-12. However, future budgetary events, hiring restrictions, conversion caps, or other events may preclude the conversion or conversion to a position with the full potential performance level. Individuals converted to a position in the competitive service may be subjected to participation in an agency formal development program. A three trial period may be required if you have not previously completed a trial or probationary period in the excepted or competitive service. Management has the prerogative to select at either grade level. Selectee of this recruitment will be required to sign a Recent Graduate Program Participant Agreement.
