Overview

CTF Training Coordinator (Mechanical)

The Compatibility Test Facility (CTF) in Philadelphia is currently looking for an organized, self-motivated Mechanical Instructor for the Training School. This position will play an important role in the training and qualification of students assigned to the Mechanical Trade and Ships Test Organization at the CTF.
The Mechanical Instructor will be part of an instructor team, who is responsible for training a variety of students, including new hires, and existing employees in Test, Electrical, and Supervision. They will run initial classes and periodic refreshers in the classroom and Active Learning Center (ALC). This position will also be required to teach courses outside of the specific mechanical trade including general safety related courses, cleanliness courses, etc. Qualified candidates will have a strong sense of commitment to Safety and Procedure Compliance, be a self-starter and possess strong verbal & written communication skills. Candidates must also possess the ability to multi-task with a friendly, approachable customer service demeanor.

Responsibilities & Duties - The responsibilities & duties include but are not limited to:
  • Instructing multiple mechanical related classroom courses Precision Measurement, Installation & Torqueing, QA Forms & Documentation, etc.
  • Directing and assessing hands on training utilizing mockups and related exercises.
  • Utilize existing curriculum and instructor best practices.
  • Enforcing safety rules and regulations in training and during deck plate audits.
  • Assessing student performance & identifying nonconformance to policies, procedures and technical documents.
  • Supporting various course content reviews, updates and course development activities.
  • Support the Training department goals and objectives with other responsibilities as assigned.
  • Coordinates with Department Managers, incorporating lessons learned, through training to site employees, regarding site compliance, quality, and safety.
  • Develop and conduct audits of various trade work, on-site, identifying areas for improvement.
  • Contribute to the sites Continuous Improvement team regarding formal issue resolution.
  • Meeting with HR Business Partners regarding student performance as needed.
  • Build and schedule classroom sessions in the Learning Management System (LMS).
  • Provide course completions in the LMS.
  • Monitor CTF Employee progress in their individual Skills Reporter Tool (SRT) for required classes Coming Due Expired and Incomplete and act accordingly.
  • Build out ALCs & ensure material and mock-ups are available.
  • Build proficiency among the workforce utilizing the ALCs.
  • Collaborate with Groton & QP training organizations.
Work Schedule The selected candidate will be expected to work the following work schedule:
  • General 1 st shift hours (6:30am 2:30pm) with flexibility to adjust hours as necessary to support business need.
  • Ability to work additional overtime as directed (including weekends).
  • The individual must be flexible to support short term training assignments on all shifts as needed.
  • Have a willingness to learn and take on additional responsibilities and duties as needed.

Qualifications

Education & Experience - Successful candidates for this position will meet the following education requirements:

Required
  • Possess a High school diploma (minimum)
  • Have a minimum of 2 years of Mechanical Trade experience required.
  • Currently qualified for Fall Protection or have the ability to pass Fall Protection training requirements.
  • Be comfortable working with heights over 5+ feet.
  • Must be able to climb a ladder and don a safety harness as required.
  • Must be able to maneuver throughout the facility and units to support all areas as required
  • Internal candidates must be from organizations outside of Operations (Gabriel/Casciano)
Preferred
  • Experience with Forklifts
  • Experience with Elevated platforms
  • Associates degree or certificate
  • Have a minimum of 3 years of Electric Boat experience
  • Prior workforce education and development experience
