Job Description
The Alaska State Commission for Human Rights is recruiting for an Office Assistant 2 position in Anchorage. This position is open to Alaskan Residents only. Please check out the residency definition to determine if you qualify.
What you will be doing:
As an Office Assistant 2, you will provide administrative support and advanced clerical support for the Human Rights Commission. Your job duties include, but are not limited to, acting as the Commission's primary receptionist, mailing complaints for signature, processing complaint filings and closures, making sure our electronic documents available to the public meet accessibility standards, ensuring that all documents are complete and correct, keeping the agency databases and website updated, and preparing and mailing various letters and forms. This individual must multi-task with repeated interruptions while maintaining detailed accuracy. You will be mainly supporting the Investigations staff but will periodically perform tasks to assist all agency staff. You will also be invited from time to time to attend outreach events to help educate the public about our agency and what we do.
This position also handles a variety of business correspondence including memos, spreadsheets, reports, and supplemental documents including manuals, workbooks, brochures, etc. that are generated by the Agency and Agency staff for dissemination to individuals, other organizations, and outreach events.

Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or the equivalent.
AND
One year of experience that includes clerical tasks such as greeting clients, answering phones, typing, filing, sorting mail, entering data, receiving payments, making change, or maintaining logs.
Substitution:
Education from an accredited college may substitute for the required experience (3 semester hours or 4 quarter hours equal 1 month of experience; 150 hours of vocation education equal one month of experience).
Special Note: "High school diploma equivalent" means one of the following: 1) a G.E.D.; 2) completion of any basic adult education course equivalent to 480 class hours (16 weeks at 30 course hours per week); 3) acceptance in full standing by an accredited college or university; 4) highest grade of school completed plus an amount of paid or volunteer experience that totals 12 years and includes basic clerical tasks such as greeting clients, answering phones, typing, filing, sorting mail, entering data, receiving payments, making change, or maintaining logs.
