ASSISTANT PRODUCTION SUPERVISOR
2ND SHIFT
5:30pm to 3:30am
Role Summary:
The Assistant Production Supervisor supports the Production Supervisor by coordinating daily production activities, motivating the production team, and ensuring efficient and safe operations in the Truss Plant. This role involves fostering a team-centered environment, adhering to Wilson Lumber's standards of quality and safety, and managing workflows to meet production targets.
Scope of the Position:
This role involves supervising a production shift, supporting workflow organization, and ensuring safety and quality standards are met. The APS is responsible for maintaining open communication within the team, coordinating production schedules, and stepping in for the Production Supervisor as needed.
Key Responsibilities:
Production Coordination and Team Leadership:
•
Oversee the daily production workflow, adjusting priorities to meet project deadlines and quality benchmarks.
•
Act as a positive role model and coach, fostering a supportive and productive team environment.
•
Coordinate training and skill development opportunities for production staff, ensuring compliance with company policies.
Safety and Compliance:
•
Enforce OSHA regulations and company safety protocols, ensuring all team members are trained and compliant.
•
Conduct regular safety inspections, address potential hazards promptly, and promote a culture of safety awareness.
Quality Assurance and Cost Management:
•
Monitor the quality and accuracy of all orders, ensuring alignment with Wilson Lumber's high standards.
•
Take action to control production costs and optimize resource usage, minimizing waste and equipment wear.
•
Maintain a clean, organized work environment to support operational efficiency and safety.
Communication and Reporting:
•
Communicate effectively with management and production staff, providing regular updates on production status and any operational challenges.
•
Report equipment issues and production concerns to the Production Supervisor promptly to avoid disruptions.
Position Qualifications:
Leadership: Demonstrated ability to motivate and lead a team in a fast-paced production setting.
•
Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to provide clear instructions.
•
Problem-Solving: Analytical and strategic thinking abilities to manage operational issues effectively.
•
Organization: Excellent organizational skills to coordinate and prioritize multiple tasks.
•
Technical Proficiency: Basic computer skills for scheduling and tracking production data.
Education and Experience:
Minimum: Bachelor's degree or equivalent industry experience.
•
Preferred: 2+ years of experience in operations or production management within the construction industry or related fields.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 pounds.
•
Required to wear all necessary personal protective equipment (PPE) while on the production floor.
