Job Description
Restek is seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Production Planner to join our team and help drive operational excellence within our supply chain. The Production Planner is a key member of our Supply Chain team, responsible for optimizing production schedules, managing inventory levels, and ensuring efficient resource allocation in our manufacturing environment. This role combines advanced planning, analysis, and coordination to meet production targets and maintain high standards of quality and efficiency within a complex, high-variety product landscape. The ideal candidate will bring strategic thinking, technical expertise, and the ability to collaborate effectively across departments to drive planning excellence, optimize production processes, and ensure timely order fulfillment. This position offers hybrid work capabilities, allowing a combination of remote and in-office work based on team needs and manager discretion.
Job Duties:
- Demand and Inventory Analysis: Leverage the Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system to analyze product demand trends, manage stock levels, and set reorder and safety stock thresholds across multiple product lines, balancing product availability with cost efficiency.
- Production Scheduling: Develop and maintain production schedules that align with sales forecasts, inventory levels, and production capacity to meet customer demand while minimizing excess inventory.
- Data Maintenance: Maintain accurate ERP planning data within a complex product environment, ensuring data integrity and meeting team expectations.
- Performance Monitoring and Reporting: Track company-wide inventory and order fulfillment metrics, analyzing performance data to identify trends, deviations, and opportunities for improvement.
- Cross-functional Communication: Effectively communicate production schedules, priorities, and updates to key stakeholders, including production teams, supervisors, and management, to resolve issues and promote seamless operations.
- Process Improvement: Identify, recommend, and implement improvements within the supply chain to enhance production efficiency, reduce waste, and increase productivity, collaborating with cross-functional teams to establish best practices.
- Data Analysis and Forecasting: Analyze production data to pinpoint inefficiencies and predict future demand using statistical methods and forecasting techniques, with a focus on optimizing inventory turnover and the cash cycle.
- Automation and Tool Utilization: Utilize production planning software, ERP systems, and other tools to automate processes, streamline workflows, and facilitate data-driven decision-making.
- Inventory Control Systems: Set up and manage Kanban circuits and other inventory control systems to maintain inventory accuracy and efficiency.
- Other Duties: Perform additional tasks as assigned to support the goals of the Supply Chain department.
Qualifications:
Education & Experience:
This position requires a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, or a related field preferred, with at least 5 years of experience in production scheduling, inventory management, or demand planning; or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
- APICS certification or courses are a plus.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Strong knowledge of current supply chain practices and principles.
- High attention to accuracy and detail, with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to collaborate effectively within cross-functional teams.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Advanced proficiency in spreadsheet applications and ERP/MRP systems.
