GENERAL ACCOUNTABILITY

Reporting to the Manufacturing Manager, the Production Manager will be responsible for the leadership of the production department through the direction of shift supervisors and the production operating personnel to meet or exceed budgeted production requirements. In addition, the Production Manager ensures that all operations are compliant with environmental health and safety requirements by providing leadership in the promotion of safety programs.
SPECIFIC ACCOUNTABILITIES

The specific responsibilities of the Production Manager, while not limited to include:

Analyze the daily production performance log to ensure that process requirements are met and reporting problems to the attention of the support department(s) and management.

  • Create changes to the process or equipment to maintain or increase production and the reduction of downtime.
  • Closely cooperate with the Process supervisor and engineers to recommend and implement improvements to maximize productivity and output.
  • Track operating costs to meet budgetary requirements.
  • Participate in the labor relations initiatives within the operating group and preside over the grievance and disciplinary meetings at the second step.
  • Ensure the provision of training materials are available for the operating personnel.
  • Prepare budget data and analysis to support budget submission on an annual basis.
  • Liaise with Engineering Manager, Purchasing, and Quality Control to provide comprehensive production scheduling.
  • Schedule available manpower to always ensure continued operations.
  • Oversee the production process, ensuring safety, quality, and efficiency standards are met
  • Manage a team of chemical and production operators, providing guidance and support as needed
  • Develop and implement production schedules to meet customer demands
  • Monitor and analyze production data to identify opportunities for improvement
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to troubleshoot and resolve production issues
  • Ensure compliance with all safety and environmental regulations
  • Develop and maintain standard operating procedures for production processes
  • Provide regular reports on production performance to upper management
  • Manage inventory levels to ensure optimal production efficiency
  • Participates in formulating and administering company policies, directing and coordinating departmental activities, leading and developing supervisors and operators to achieve company goals and objectives.
  • Reviews analyses of activities, costs, operations, and forecast data to determine area progress toward company Annual Operating Plan goals and objectives.
  • Confers with direct reports and support personnel to review achievements and discuss required changes in strategy and work processes resulting from current status and conditions.
  • Develops, reviews, updates and implements production planning, including continuous improvement initiatives (Six Sigma, 5S, Lean).
  • Oversee production processes and performance management in area. Resolves process and facility problems to ensure maximum effectiveness, efficiency, and quality. Prevents operational delays in order to meet scheduling requirements.
  • Oversee key projects, processes and performance reports, data and analysis in assigned area.
  • Leads and directs supervisors, operators and support personnel. Provides overall direction, coordination and evaluation of performance.
  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
QUALIFICATIONS / EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE
  • Five years of manufacturing leadership experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in chemical engineering, chemistry, business administration or mechanical engineering is preferred. A university/community college degree/diploma or equivalent experience will be considered as well.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced working environment.
  • Team building and performance management experience.
  • Experience leading cross-functional teams in a multi-shift 24/7 manufacturing environment.
  • Experience working in the chemical process industry is considered an asset.
  • Exceptional leadership, motivational, organizational, problem-solving, and conflict resolution abilities.
  • Strong people skills and an energetic approach to problem-solving and daily responsibilities.
  • Strong working knowledge of plant operations relative to environmental, health and safety within a 24/7 manufacturing environment.

POSITION/EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK
This is a full-time exempt position. Standard Office Hours - 6:30am-3:30pm - Shift change at 7:00am to be effective.
