The successful candidate possesses a wide range of skills and contributes to the product manufacturing process using multiple engineering disciplines. A process engineer uses knowledge of manufacturing
processes and automation capabilities to translate the design work product into manufacturing
documentation consisting of standard work, routing tags, fixtures, specialized tool requirements,
fabrication drawings and all other factory data input to smoothly and efficiently produce and ship
products to LayerZero’s customers.
The Production Engineer is further responsible for the data systems and application programs needed to
manage and automate the flow of data from design through the production process. Design and
maintenance of software tools to automate repetitive production engineering tasks is a key
responsibility of the successful candidate. Basic production engineering responsibilities include
production work-study, production ergonomics, operations research, materials management,
production planning, and other disciplines required to engineer an efficient, optimized production
process. Excellence in communication is important to success in this role.
Requirements:- Provide point-of-contact liaison between design engineering and manufacturing.
- Identifying appropriate manufacturing processes for components and assemblies
- Creating manufacturing documentation
- Meeting with production managers to assess existing processes
- Drafting process ideas to reduce costs and improve production rates
- Performing risk assessments
- Design and test process improvements
- Ensure processes comply with safety and quality standards
- Perform process simulations and troubleshooting issues (PFMEA).
- Improve routines and best practices to ensure product quality
- Develop standardized operating instructions
- Provide the Product Manager with process documents and standard operating procedures
- New design review for manufacturability and manufacturing efficiency
Experience & Skills:
- Experience with mechanical engineering CAD and CAM tools.
- Understanding of mechanical, electrical and / or electronic manufacturing operations.
- Previous experience in a manufacturing production environment.
Education:
- Bachelor of Science in a technical/engineering discipline (prefer industrial, electrical, or mechanical)
- US Citizenship or C1 Permanent Resident Alien status
