KEY ELEMENTS:
- Process Development: Support research, design, and development of safe manufacturing processes, including production flow, assembly methods, and equipment.
- Stakeholder Consultation: Collaborate with stakeholders to define functional and spatial requirements for new structures or renovations and prepare detailed design specifications, materials, equipment lists, estimated costs, and construction timelines.
- Facility Layouts: Prepare and maintain detailed layouts of the facility's property, buildings, and equipment.
- Product Launch: Support and potentially lead the manufacturing launch of new or revised products, including goal setting, team training, and result evaluation.
- Tool Design: Design, develop, test, and source and cost-justify various tools, machinery, equipment, and refrigerated insulation processes for the safe manufacturing of truck bodies and components.
- Capital Projects: Prepare capital projects for new equipment and processes.
- Effectiveness: Safely launch machines, processes, methods, and tooling technologies with over 99% effectiveness.
- Knowledge Sharing: Document and communicate lessons learned within the manufacturing engineering discipline.
REQUIREMENT CREDENTIALS OF THIS ROLE:
- Project Management Experience: Proven experience managing manufacturing startup projects, including scope development, business case analysis, execution, and closeout.
- Project Completion: Track record of completing manufacturing projects on schedule and within budget.
- Strategic Thinking: Ability to think strategically and plan projects over a 6-12 month horizon.
- Manufacturing Technologies: Experience with existing manufacturing technologies, including welding, joining, metalworking, and manual assembly. Certification in a related field is a plus.
- Factory Automation: Experience with factory automation, maintenance, and integrating engineering designs into production is highly desirable.
- Lean Principles: Practical experience with Lean principles and proven success using Lean tools.
- Technical Proficiency: Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, MS Project, AutoCAD, and Minitab.
- Change Facilitation: Proven ability to facilitate change and knowledge of Lean tools and techniques.
- Leadership Skills: Strong leadership experience and a team-oriented mindset.
- Communication Skills: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and oral.
- Attention to Detail: Quality orientation and meticulous attention to detail.
- Problem Solving: Strong problem analysis and resolution skills. Green Belt certification is required; Black Belt certification is a plus.
