Assist senior engineering personnel with various strategic engineering related projects, continuously seek innovative manufacturing methods that will improve quality, productivity, and reduce cost.

You will provide daily engineering support to assigned area(s) of manufacturing keeping all tooling and respective product drawings current; create and maintain BOM's and related production data that will be used to continuously improve production efficiencies. Assist senior engineering personnel with various strategic engineering related projects, continuously seek innovative manufacturing methods that will improve quality, productivity, and reduce cost.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR:
- Responsible for creating and revising manufacturing tooling, including jigs, fixtures, molds, product drawings, product BOMs, and process routers. This includes assigning tooling part numbers, reviewing submitted process problem forms, and creating new drawings for special parts with minimal supervision.
- Utilizes computer-aided drafting CAD software to execute drawing revisions and documentation through Engineering Change Notices.
- Design tooling and procure it through purchasing.
- Work very closely with the specific assigned area of manufacturing, Application Engineering, Tool Room, and Quality personnel, playing a crucial role in the production process. Make process adjustments and/or tooling changes to produce parts acceptable to the applicable requirements.
- Create process layout documents using established company procedures, including assembly and machining instructions. Stay informed of industry developments to serve as a consultant to management regarding the positive direction of process changes, equipment, and new tooling purchases.
- Spends time on the shop floor physically assisting manufacturing personnel with solving problems, tooling assemblies, machine setup, and prototype runs.
- When an acceptable part is created, oversee the complete and permanent documentation of the process, machine settings, required tooling, updated BOMs, etc.
- Transfer product to assigned manufacturing area from current or less efficient manufacturing process when applicable.
- Continually improve quality, productivity, and cost, contributing directly to the company's success and mission. Participate in extended-range facility, equipment, and process improvements.
Physical Requirements
- Visual awareness for detailed work.
- Must have excellent oral and written communication skills.
Education
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or mechanical engineering technology (or equivalent work experience).
- Minimum three years' experience in a high-speed production environment focused on machining fundamental metals of varying shapes and sizes.
- Must be proficient with computer-aided drafting CAD software packages, CREO (Pro/Engineer) preferred.

- Serves as a consultant to the Process and Applications Engineering Groups regarding manufacturing capabilities, tooling cost estimates, and setup time estimates.

- Employs cooperation, open-mindedness, and creativity to confront and complete challenging work assignments.
- Meet Key Performance Indicators (KPI) goals.
- Follows through on all assigned tasks and keeps department manager informed of progress or roadblocks.
