RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Assist in planning and designing manufacturing processes for a production facility, maximizes efficiency by analyzing layout of equipment, workflow, assembly methods, and work force utilization, and determines the parts, equipment, and tools needed to achieve manufacturing goals according to product specifications.
  • Create and maintain complete and accurate tool designs and applications
  • Create tooling overlays during part changes to identify all change impacts to tools
  • Work with purchasing and plant to create tooling specifications, bid packages and cost budgets
  • Develop the tooling plan to meet sourcing requirements and tooling delivery
  • Work with suppliers and attend tool reviews
  • Make suggestions to simplify tooling and/or eliminate tool changes
  • Track timing of tool deliveries circumventing delays to meet timing
  • Work with tool manufacturers, and plant maintenance to identify preventive maintenance activities
  • Provide floor support to assist in use of tool and identify improvements as needed
  • Evaluate tooling requirements to assure operator safety, quality & throughput capabilities
  • Interact with Production Employees, Supervisors, Quality Acceptance, Design Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Suppliers, Consultants, Contractors, Customers, co-workers in other departments.

REQUIREMENTS
  • Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology, Industrial Engineering or similar related degree
  • 2-5 years in automotive assembly a plus
  • Experience working with tool design and tool manufacturers
  • Must have automotive assembly knowledge, read blue prints, illustrate and have experience in NX (Unigraphics) or similar 3D CAD programs
  • Program knowledge of SAP, PLM++, CREO and Teamcenter (Shared files) for creation of Assembly Instructions
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products
  • High level of initiative, organizational skills and ability to work independently
  • Must have strong written, verbal skills, problem solving, customer service and multi-tasking skills
