Job Description
Position Title: Custodian
Department: Facilities
Reports To: Custodial Supervisor
Classification: Non-Exempt
FTE: 1.0
Pay Range: $20.27 - $25.35
Essential Job Duties:
1. Clean floors
7. Support, respect, and commit to embracing diverse backgrounds, values, and points of view to build a strong and inclusive community
8. Complete and meet deadlines for required training and performance management cycle
9. Basic skills in using standard office equipment and computer applications, including email, word processing, spreadsheet, and database, or willingness to learn
10. Perform other duties as assigned
Work Schedule:
Term: Year-round
Shift: Varies with custodial assignment; occasional weekend and evening hours may be required (snow shoveling and commencement, reunion, and move-in weekends, etc.)
Required Qualifications:
Education: High School Diploma or equivalent
Experience: Stable work history
Preferred Qualifications:
Education: Vocational/Technical school training
Experience: Previous cleaning experience; operational experience with floor machines, hydraulic man-lift, snow blowers
Prerequisites:
Employment in this position is conditioned upon successful completion of a background check which may include: criminal background checks, reference checks, verification of work history, verification of any required academic credentials, licenses, and/or certifications, a motor vehicle check, verification of DOT certification, a credit check, employment eligibility verification, and/or a pre-employment physical. Whether a background check is deemed successfully completed will be at the sole discretion of St. Olaf College. Please note, St. Olaf College reserves the right to conduct periodic background checks at its sole discretion.

- Sweep/Dust mop
- Mop/Auto scrub
- Wax/Polish
- Vacuum/Carpet Extraction
- Disinfect sinks, toilets, urinals, and showers
- Sweep and mop floors
- Restock soap, hand towels, and toilet paper
- Clean glass, walls, woodwork, vents, and light fixtures
- Clean window sills, desktops, and classroom boards
- Collect trash/recycle material and place it in designated outside containers
- Clean all indoor trash and recycling bins
- Remove snow from building entrances, sidewalks, and steps.
- Unplug the sink and toilet drains
- Replace light bulbs
- Report items needing repair
- Assist in buildings with staff shortages
- Complete set-ups for events
- Move furniture, supplies, and equipment as needed
- Professional development and training
