Position Summary:
The Maintenance Worker / Janitor will be responsible for all general upkeep of the Corps Community Center and surrounding property. This position reports directly to the Youth Center Director and Corps Officer.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Must submit to and pass a background check.
- Must complete Protecting the Mission - child safety training.
- Must possess a valid Montana Driver's License and be a minimum of 21 years old.
- Must complete and pass Salvation Army Driver's Safety Course and Motor Vehicle Records (MVR) Check.
Skills, Knowledge & Abilities:
- Must have experience in building / grounds maintenance and janitorial cleaning / procedures.

Essential Functions:
- Daily inspection of facility (inside and outside) to assess maintenance and janitorial needs.
- LOBBY, CLASSROOMS, OFFICES, HALLWAYS and CHAPEL - Empty trash cans daily. Vacuum carpet, dust, and clean glass / surfaces as needed or directed.
- RESTROOMS - Thoroughly clean all toilets, urinals, and sinks. Mop floors and clean drains. Clean mirrors and countertops as needed. Empty trash cans, cleaning inside and out as needed. Check soap, paper towel and toilet paper dispensers daily; fill as needed. Deep cleaning as needed or directed.
- GYM/FLOORS - Assist with set up and take down of fixtures for various programs and events. Dust mop and wet towel daily. Sweep, mop, and buff gym floors as needed.
- KITCHEN - Sweep and mop floor daily. Clean sinks and counters as needed. Monitor refrigerator / freezer temperatures daily and maintain temperate logs. Ensure refrigerator / freezer units and stove / oven are clean and in proper working order. Report malfunctions and necessary repairs to the Youth Center Director.
- GROUNDS - Clear sidewalks and walking paths of snow, trash, and debris daily. Lawn, tree / bush, and parking area maintenance as needed or directed. Softball Field dragging and lining for games as scheduled.
- Communicate with Youth Center Director to maintain adequate supplies, providing reports and inventories as needed or requested.
- Assist with coordinating and receiving deliveries. Ensure the proper adherence of all required safety precautions.
- Ensure all equipment is in proper working order, performing routine maintenance and minor repairs. Report damage / necessary repairs that cannot be performed on-site to Youth Center Director immediately.
- Perform minor electrical, plumbing, and carpentry repairs (replace light bulbs, unclog toilets / sinks, patch, and paint walls, etc.).
- Mow grass at the Corps and Family Services facilities.
- Perform routine maintenance of mowers, weed eaters, snow blower,
- Assist with the maintenance of vehicles and daily mileage logs, ensuring DOT compliance. Report needed repairs to the Youth Center Director.
- Be familiar with and maintain Protecting the Mission compliance.
- Attend staff meetings and trainings as required; including but not limited to Protecting the Mission - child safety training, and The Salvation Army fleet safety training.
- Assist with seasonal efforts, which may include but are not limited to, Driving Kettle Routes, Christmas Food and Toy Preparations / Distribution.

- Two weeks annually, accruing from day one, for non-exempt positions.
- Four weeks annually, accruing from day one, for exempt positions.
- Accrued vacation is eligible for use after six months' service time.
Paid Holidays: 13 designated holidays + 1 floating holiday per year
