District Custodian Job at Delano Public Schools in Delano

Are you ready to make a difference in the daily lives of students and staff? As a Custodian with Delano Public Schools, you’ll play a key role in maintaining clean, safe, and welcoming school buildings and grounds. Your work will directly contribute to a positive learning environment for everyone.

Your Role Will Include:

• Perform preventative maintenance, diagnose and repair mechanical issues, and maintain equipment, machines, and structures.
• Inspect buildings, grounds, and equipment, addressing repairs and installations as needed while adhering to safety regulations and building codes.
• Maintain logs, write reports, and communicate issues to the Night Lead or Head Custodian.
• Respond promptly to maintenance requests, follow instructions, and use various tools and equipment effectively.
• Assist with snow removal and handle equipment loading/unloading as needed.

Qualifications:

• A high school diploma or GED
• Prior custodial or janitorial experience (preferred)
• Current Boiler Engineer License or willingness to obtain within first 4 months of employment
• Ability to work independently or as part of a team
• Physical ability to lift, stand, and perform tasks for extended periods - lifting up to 50 pounds and 70% physical work
• Work involves exposure to hazards, physical risks, and moderate environmental elements like extreme temperatures, dust, fumes, odors, and loud noises, requiring adherence to safety precautions

Salary and Benefits:

• Salary: $19.28 - $22.50/hr (based on experience) plus Night Differential of $0.95/hr
• Benefits include health and dental insurance, retirement plans, paid time off, and holidays

Locations & Shift Times:

• Full-time, Monday - Friday, 3 PM - 11:30 PM, Flexible summer hours (40 hours per week)
