POSITION GOAL & BASIC FUNCTION:
Maintain high standards for the Housekeeping / Environmental Services Dept. and provide quality service to students, faculty and staff in a pleasant manner. Employees in this classification report to the housekeeping supervisor. This is a routine manual labor position associated with the daily cleaning and floor care of the school buildings. Typical routine duties include, but are not restricted to dust mopping, wet mopping, sweeping, vacuuming, horizontal and vertical dusting, cleaning classrooms, cleaning offices, cleaning instructional spaces, cleaning restrooms, removing trash, cleaning glass, polishing furniture, the care and upkeep of floor surfaces etc. Provide after-hours support, as approved in each building.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Police public areas.
- Frequent dust and wet mopping, buffing, scrubbing and recoating of hard surface floors, carpet shampooing, etc.
- Scrub and clean restroom walls, floors, fixtures, partitions and restock with supplies as needed.
- Dust, clean and polish all furniture.
- Dust and clean all walls, doors, windows and ledges, woodwork, countertops, water fountains, stairs, etc.
- Establish and maintain inter-departmental relations with personnel, maintenance & faculty.
- Help in the evaluation and assist in the selection of new cleaning products, materials and equipment.
- Report all accidents to Supervisor.
- May be required to fill in for absentee personnel.
- Maintain all storage areas in a neat and orderly fashion for easy rotation of supplies and equipment.
- Vent, blackboard, whiteboard and radiator cleaning.
- Be aware of any and all upcoming meetings, sports events, dances, school fairs etc. and help to prepare custodial support for such functions.
- Be responsible and/or assist security of the building during scheduled shift.
- Notify manager of equipment and facilities needing repair or replacement.
- Must be courteous and able to deal effectively with staff, students, and the public.

- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Knowledge of district-wide standards for cleaning methods, equipment, materials and supplies.
- Knowledge of the operations and maintenance of all mechanical cleaning equipment used in the district, perform PM duties on equipment.
- Ability to perform manual tasks requiring moderate physical strength.
- Self-starter and able to work as a team member, also able to work with minimum supervision and have a neat / clean appearance.
- Ability to establish and maintain a working relationship with the supervisor, fellow workers, staff and students.
- Ability to follow simple verbal and written instruction as relates to the job.
- Submission of PA School Personnel Health form.
- Current Act 34, Act 151 and Act 114 clearances.
- The person, while performing in this position, will be required to:
- Use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls, and to talk and hear;
- Stand, walks, and occasionally is required to sit, stoop, kneel and crouch;
- Have specific vision abilities, to include close vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus;
- Have the ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds;
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
- 12 months, 8 hours per day.
- Starting at $18.00 hourly; Salary and benefits according to the negotiated agreement between the Board of School Directors and the International Brotherhood of Teamsters, Local 384.
