Role Description:

  • Under supervision develops manufacturing methods and processes, investigates and troubleshoots manufacturing problems, and creates drawings and designs for special machines and fixtures.
  • Investigates, establishes, and implements requirements for equipment, tooling, materials, or methods of manufacturing including preparing the necessary facts so a make versus buy decision can be made.
  • Develops and implements optimal, cost effective manufacturing processes and methods in accordance with product specifications and quality standards.
  • Recommends and implements improvements to production processes, methods, and controls.
  • Helps plan, design, and detail floor layouts for efficient production.
  • Responsible for the coordination of assigned projects from concept through final implementation. Assembles timelines and coordinates required activities to bring assigned projects to successful completion within timing and budget targets.
  • Informs management on progress through formal project updates and formulate recovery plans to accommodate changes to timing or project scope.

  • Oversee project activities and provide direction where needed.
  • Coordinate and monitor supplier activities to support project targets.
  • Formulate timelines to encompass project scope.
  • Provide concepts and/or designs for required project elements.
  • Prove out concepts and troubleshoot systems.
  • Provide process parameters and operational instructions.
  • Provide operational layouts and analyze effect on plant environment.
  • Provide process flow information and evaluate impact on material handling systems.
  • Provide support information to the Quoting Department.
  • Ability to operation manufacturing equipment related to assigned project (as assigned).
  • Performs product/process analysis (time studies, spaghetti diagrams, etc.) for reduced cost, improved quality, and improved efficiency.
  • Assist in FMEA development to highlight potential quality concerns.

Noise Level

The noise level in the working environment will be heavy with high traffic at times. Ear protection will be required during those times.

Education/Experience/Certifications:

To effectively carry out duties and responsibilities in the job position the following education, experience, or certifications are preferred:

Education:
  • Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from four-year college or university
Experience:
  • Three to five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Additional Skills Required:

To effectively carry out duties and responsibilities in the job position the following skills are required:

Computer skills:
  • Must be proficient in AutoCAD 2016, Autodesk Inventor 2016, Excel, Word, Microsoft Office Suite, and basic office equipment.
Communication skills:
  • Speak effectively with fellow employees or customers.
  • Read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, etc.
  • Interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Mathematical skills:
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.
  • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
  • Interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Other Skills:
• Organized and able to meet deadlines while performing multiple duties.
• Solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
• Knowledge of tool design and manufacturing flows/processes.
• Ability to read and interpret GD&T on engineering drawings.
• Knowledge of APQP tools and process.
• Experience using lean manufacturing tools.
